{"id":624754,"date":"2026-08-07T04:33:24","date_gmt":"2026-08-07T04:33:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/624754\/"},"modified":"2026-08-07T04:33:24","modified_gmt":"2026-08-07T04:33:24","slug":"openai-aims-to-redefine-smart-speakers-with-first-ai-device","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/624754\/","title":{"rendered":"OpenAI Aims to Redefine Smart Speakers With First AI Device"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/openai.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">OpenAI<\/a>\u2018s upcoming portable smart speaker, the company\u2019s first device, will be doughnut-shaped, the size of a hockey puck, will have moving parts and likely cost between $300 and $400, Bloomberg <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2026-08-06\/what-is-openai-s-device-a-doughnut-shaped-speaker-that-costs-over-300?srnd=homepage-americas\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reported<\/a> Thursday (Aug. 6), citing unnamed sources.<\/p>\n<p>The design of this artificial intelligence-first computer is meant to make it easy to carry around in the home, to have a personality as it interacts with the user, and to set it apart from the smart speakers currently offered by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apple.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Apple<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/about.google\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Google<\/a>, according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>The device will be equipped with speaker grills and microphones for interacting with users, a camera and other sensors to inform the AI about the environment, and a battery to make it easily portable, the report said.<\/p>\n<p>OpenAI filed a motion late Wednesday (Aug. 5) to dismiss a lawsuit in which Apple accuses OpenAI of stealing Apple\u2019s intellectual property.
