Grand Theft Auto publisher Take-Two Interactive expects the impending release of Grand Theft Auto VI to become a transformative moment in the company’s history.<\/p>\n

As noted in its latest fiscal report for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026,<\/a> Take-Two delivered net bookings of around $1.39 billion\u2014slightly above the high-end of its guidance range but a 3 percent decrease on the $1.42 billion reported this time last year. That performance was largely attributed to the overperformance of NBA 2K and the Grand Theft Auto series.<\/p>\n

Grand Theft Auto V has now sold-in over 230 million units to-date across three console generations. According to Take-Two, it remains the best-selling title of the past decade based on both unit and dollar sales. Recurrent consumer spending within Grand Theft Auto increased by 3 percent year-on-year.<\/p>\n

Take-Two seemed particularly pleased with the how its Rockstar Mission Creator\u2014a suite of tools designed to let users create their own GTA Online experiences\u2014has been received.<\/p>\n

The entire Grand Theft Auto franchise has now sold-in almost 475 million units globally.<\/p>\n

Rockstar’s other major series, Red Dead Redemption, has sold-in nearly 116 million units worldwide. The vast majority of those sales have been generated by Red Dead Redemption 2, which has now sold-in over 87 million copies.<\/p>\n

NBA 2K26 was also name-dropped as a standout performer, with the basketball simulator selling over 12 million copies worldwide to help deliver a “record year” for the franchise.<\/p>\n

“The achievements of this year’s iteration of the series are a testament to Visual Concepts’ ability continually to deliver new, innovative ways for fans to stay engaged, and our live-service execution remains a cornerstone of NBA 2K’s sustained success,” said Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick on a call.<\/p>\n

Given that Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to break the bank, Zelnick reiterated that Take-Two expects to deliver net bookings of $8 billion to $8.2 billion during the current fiscal year (FY27). From that point on, he claimed the publisher will strive to sustain its “new level of scale.”<\/p>\n

“We are reiterating our Fiscal 2027 outlook for Net Bookings of $8 to $8.2 billion, which reflects both ongoing positive trends in our business and our high degree of confidence around the November 19 release of Grand Theft Auto VI,” he added.<\/p>\n

“We expect to sustain this new level of scale and generate strong cash flows for the next several years, as we release our robust development pipeline; capitalize on incremental opportunities within our highly-established hit franchises; and continue to apply our proven, long-term approach to managing the Company.”<\/p>\n
