Angelina Jolie will reunite with Mr & Mrs Smith director Doug Liman on a brand-new spy thriller. <\/p>\n

According to The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, Universal is in the process of locking down The Initiative, an upcoming project starring Jolie and helmed by Liman. <\/p>\n

F. Scott Frazier, whose writing credits include Collide (2016) and xXx: Return of Xander Cage (2017), is penning the script. <\/p>\n

While details surrounding the project are limited, The Initiative has been described as “Training Day set in the world [of] spycraft,” and is expected to follow a master spy named Bright (Jolie) who is known for breaking the rules. When a new agent named Charlie joins her team, however, her unpredictable methods are called into question. <\/p>\n

Currently, a release date has yet to be determined, with THR noting that production could commence in the first quarter of 2026.<\/p>\n

While The Initiative is in the early stages of development, Jolie will be turning her attention towards another project, which is scheduled to premiere at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival next month. <\/p>\n

Slated to star as American filmmaker Maxine Walker, Jolie has teamed up with French director Alice Winocour on Couture, a drama set during Paris Fashion Week. <\/p>\n

Via TIFF<\/a>, Couture “weaves multiple threads of women and girls from Ukraine, France and Sudan, in the lead up to a fashion show.”<\/p>\n

The description for the film reads: “Maxine (Jolie), an American film director, arrives in Paris to helm a video for a fashion event. Maxine thinks fashion is ‘useless and unnecessary,’ but the opportunity is lucrative, and she has financial burdens. She is in the midst of a divorce, has a teenage daughter, and is preparing her next feature film. But her tightly ordered life is about to unravel as Maxine is given a serious medical diagnosis.<\/p>\n

“Maxine’s personal crisis intersects with two other women she encounters at her job: Ang\u00e8le (Ella Rumpf), a veteran makeup artist writing a work of fiction based on her own experiences in the industry, and Ada (Anyier Anei), an 18-year-old pharmacy student from Nairobi who has just been ‘discovered’ as a model and navigating a brand-new world. Each is confronted with choices small and significant, and must make life-changing career decisions.” <\/p>\n

The Initiative <\/strong>has yet to receive a release date.<\/strong><\/p>\n
