\n\tAs a child, Lisa Denholtz\u2019s family kept parrots. Her study of Chinese art history would become another lifelong passion. When she and her\u00a0real estate developer husband, Steven<\/a>, renovated their Boca Raton<\/a> home, those two influences became the foundation for the design, shaping everything from the color palette and furnishings to the wall coverings.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe transformation was no small undertaking, requiring 12 months and about $2 million to turn their Addison Estates residence into a 5,700-square-foot retreat overlooking the lush fairways of The Boca Raton golf course. Working with\u00a0Errez Design<\/a>, the couple embraced what the firm calls \u201cbiographical design\u201d\u2014an approach centered on creating spaces that reflect the lives and experiences of the people who inhabit them. The result is a deeply personal home that feels like a portrait of the couple and their shared interests.<\/p>\n

\n\tA crimson red hue associated with Qing Dynasty lacquer work is found throughout, including in the sleek kitchen, where an antique eight-panel coromandel screen serves as the backdrop for the breakfast table. In the nearby dining room, a chinoiserie-style gold-leaf mural was hand-painted by English artist\u00a0Grahame M\u00e9nage<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the living room, a custom rug takes a familiar Asian pattern and reimagines it with Florida<\/a> herons, while one of the guest bathrooms is wrapped in avian-themed wallpaper. In the fireside primary suite, the couple had an antique Asian daybed repurposed into a cushion for their dog.<\/p>\n

\n\tOther highlights include a tropical guest suite with red palm-frond wallpaper; a bunk room that invokes wanderlust with globe-patterned wallcoverings; and a media room where the television is set within punchy green cabinetry, with curved nooks displaying treasured pieces from the couple\u2019s collection and echoing the home\u2019s arched doorways and windows.<\/p>\n
