Hong Kong parents should have their children vaccinated against respiratory infections as the city faces a triple threat from influenza, Covid-19 and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), a medical expert has said.<\/p>\n
Dr Mike Kwan Yat-wah, an honorary clinical associate professor in the University of Hong Kong\u2019s department of paediatrics and adolescent medicine, warned on Saturday that the current summer flu season had yet to reach its peak. His remarks came four days after the city recorded its first child death from flu this year.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe number [of flu cases] remains high and there is no sign of it dropping yet, therefore it is unclear when the peak will arrive,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Covid-19 and RSV cases were also at high levels, Kwan said, warning that Hong Kong was under threat from three types of infections.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are now under the triple attack of flu, Covid-19 and RSV \u2026 this triple whammy is happening in Hong Kong and neighbouring areas,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
