Mark Ronson is a chart-topping producer and songwriter, having worked with Amy Winehouse <\/strong>(\u201cRehab\u201d) and Bruno Mars <\/strong>(\u201cUptown Funk). He\u2019s a Grammy winner, claiming nine trophies so far, including Record of the Year (twice!) Ronson\u2019s also an Oscar and Golden Globe winning, claiming Best Original Song for co-writing \u201cShallow\u201d from A Star Is Born.<\/p>\n

But it appears he missed his true calling: starting a wedding band with his stepfather, Mick Jones <\/strong>of classic rock band Foreigner<\/strong>. And Ronson hopes that Taylor Swift<\/a><\/strong>can make his dreams come true. Sorta.<\/p>\n

While appearing on the Sept. 11 episode of The Tonight Show to promote his new book\u2014Night People: How to be a DJ in \u201890s NYC\u2014host Jimmy Fallon <\/strong>brought up how Foreigner offered to play Taylor and Travis Kelce<\/strong>\u2019s wedding. The band\u2019s Instagram made the plea shortly after Kelce proposed to the \u201cCruel Summer\u201d singer.<\/p>\n

Ronson, upon seeing his father\u2019s pitch, threw his hat in the ring. \u201cIf you guys need a DJ, Travis? Taylor?\u201d offered Ronson, with Fallon adding he was available \u201cif you need a comedian.\u201d<\/p>\n

Though Ronson wasn\u2019t joking when discussing how important it was that his dad got accepted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n

In the years leading up to their induction, Ronson championed his stepfather\u2019s legacy. In Mark\u2019s eyes, Foreigner (with hits like \u201cCold as Ice,\u201d \u201cHot Blooded,\u201d \u201cHead Games,\u201d \u201cWaiting for a Girl Like You,\u201d and \u201cI Want to Know What Love Is\u201d) and specifically, his stepdad, deserved their flowers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I found out they got in, I was just, I guess, because it was my stepdad, he\u2019s just done so much for me, he\u2019s such a huge influence,\u201d Ronson told Fallon. \u201cI was so much more excited when they got in than any other award or anything I ever got. I actually broke down and cried when I found out they got in.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jones married Mark Ronson\u2019s mother, Ann, in the early 1980s. Jones wrote the band\u2019s chart-topping hit, \u201cI Want to Know What Love Is,\u201d right before they tied the knot.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was just up late one night. I had met the person who was becoming my wife, basically, and I think I walked into the bedroom about two in the morning, and I said, \u2018I\u2019ve got this great idea.\u2019 I had the first two chords of the intro and the title,\u201d he told Ultimate Classic Rock<\/a>in 2013.<\/p>\n

He then told Ann the title. \u201cShe looked at me and said, \u201cWhat do you mean you want to know what love is? We\u2019re about to get married!\u201d [Laughs] \u201cDon\u2019t you know what love is?\u201d So that was funny<\/p>\n

Foreigner\u2019s Journey to the Hall of Fame<\/p>\n

Foreigner formed in 1976, with guitarist Mick Jones, <\/strong>vocalist Lou Gramm<\/strong>, bassist Ed Gagliardi<\/strong>, drummer Dennis Elliott<\/strong>, keyboardist Al Greenwood<\/strong> and multi-instrumentalist Ian McDonald<\/strong>. In the nearly fifty years since, the band has gone through multiple lineup changes, with Jones being the only continuous original member.<\/p>\n

Bands, singers and acts are eligible for nomination to the Rock Hall 25 years after their first commercial recording and if they demonstrate a significant impact on the evolution of rock and music.<\/p>\n

And so, Foreigner was first eligible in 2001.<\/p>\n

After a two-decade push from Ronson and other celebrities, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted Foreigner into the Class of 2024.<\/p>\n
