{"id":629161,"date":"2026-08-09T21:23:16","date_gmt":"2026-08-09T21:23:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/629161\/"},"modified":"2026-08-09T21:23:16","modified_gmt":"2026-08-09T21:23:16","slug":"i-got-that-wrong-galway-boss-murray-apologises-for-2025-irish-examiner-comments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/629161\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;I got that wrong&#8217;: Galway boss Murray apologises for 2025 Irish Examiner comments\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Galway manager Cathal Murray has apologised for his comments about the  Irish Examiner following last year\u2019s All-Ireland final.<\/p>\n<p>At the time, Murray said the ratings of the players prior to last year\u2019s win over Cork <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishexaminer.com\/sport\/gaa\/arid-41685330.html\">was &#8220;the biggest insult ever&#8221;<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">However, he admitted he was wrong and went on to compliment the newspaper\u2019s camogie coverage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cI know I got one thing wrong last year when I talked about the player ratings in the  Irish Examiner,\u201d said Murray. \u201cI didn&#8217;t look at them yesterday, but I wasn&#8217;t proud of the way I handled that last year, what I said, and the way I said it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cI think when you open the  Irish Examiner, you just see four or five pages of camogie all this week. And to Eoghan (Cormican), Therese (O\u2019Callaghan) and all involved in that, I just got that wrong last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cI apologise for it. I didn&#8217;t like the way it came across, but it&#8217;s something that I wasn&#8217;t proud of afterwards.
