1977<\/b>: Daniel Kinahan<\/a> is born to Jean Boylan and Christy Kinahan. Kinahan is raised in the Oliver Bond flats in the Liberties area of Dublin<\/a>.<\/p>\n

2000s: <\/b>Christy Kinahan<\/a> leaves Ireland for Spain after being released from prison. He had been arrested in 1997 for fraud-related charges and was subsequently jailed for four years. From Spain, Christy Kinahan grew an international drugs operation.<\/p>\n

2012:<\/b> Daniel Kinahan establishes MGM, a gym that he co-founded with boxer Matthew Macklin<\/a> in Marbella, Spain. MGM ultimately grows into a significant boxing management company.<\/p>\n

2014: <\/b>Kinahan\u2019s mother, Jean Boylan, dies after a short illness.<\/p>\n

2015: <\/b>Gary Hutch, a nephew of Gerry Hutch<\/a>, is killed near Marbella. Gary Hutch had tried but failed to kill Daniel Kinahan a year prior.<\/p>\n

2016: <\/b>Gunmen dressed as emergency response garda\u00ed carry out an attack at the Regency Hotel in Whitehall, north Dublin, during a weigh-in for a boxing fight involving MGM. <\/p>\n

Daniel Kinahan was the main target but managed to escape. David Byrne<\/a>, a Kinahan associate, was shot dead.<\/p>\n

Following the shooting, Daniel Kinahan and his brother join their father in Dubai.<\/p>\n

2017: <\/b>Daniel Kinahan <\/b>stands down from MGM, with business partner Matthew Macklin <\/b>saying it followed \u201cbad publicity\u201d. <\/p>\n

However, he maintains close ties to the company, which rebrands to MTK Global, and advises many of its fighters, including Tyson Fury<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In Dubai, Daniel Kinahan and his brother begin to develop a series of import-export businesses, while also buying up properties there.<\/p>\n

Daniel Kinahan marries Dubliner Caoimhe Robinson in a lavish ceremony in the Burj Khalifa. He remains involved in professional boxing.<\/p>\n

2020: <\/b>Tyson Fury thanks and praises Daniel Kinahan for arranging one of his fights, resulting in backlash.<\/p>\n

Then taoiseach Leo Varadkar says he is \u201ctaken aback\u201d by the comments. Fury drops Kinahan as his negotiator two weeks later.<\/p>\n

A week later, MTK president Bob Yalen says Daniel Kinahan was stepping back from boxing \u201cto focus on other interests\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cHopefully this will put a stop to the negative press from Ireland that\u2019s based entirely on hearsay,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n

Later that year, US boxing manager Moses Heredia <\/b>lodges a US civil suit against Kinahan and MTK, accusing them of poaching his client in breach of US law.<\/p>\n

2022:<\/b> The US<\/a> government offers a reward of up to $15 million for information that leads to the arrest or conviction of Christy Kinahan and his two sons.<\/p>\n

MTK Global ceases operations following \u201cunprecedented levels of unfair scrutiny and criticism\u201d since the sanctions were announced.<\/p>\n

2024: <\/b>In October 2024, the Irish Government and the UAE agree on an extradition treaty.<\/p>\n

2026:<\/b> Daniel Kinahan is arrested in Dubai in April as part of a joint operation between An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na and authorities in the UAE. He is taken into custody on foot of an extradition request.<\/p>\n

In July, Kinahan fails in his final appeal against his extradition to Ireland.<\/p>\n

August 2026: <\/b>Kinahan is extradited from the UAE on a Government jet and taken directly to the Special Criminal Court where he is charged with directing an organised crime group between 2015 and 2017.<\/p>\n
