Aubrey Plaza and Christopher Abbott have welcomed their first child.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhite Lotus\u201d star Plaza was photographed holding her new baby on Sunday in New York City following Abbott\u2019s final curtain call for the Broadway play \u201cDeath of a Salesman,\u201d TMZ reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n News of the pregnancy<\/a> first circulated in April, when representatives for Plaza confirmed to People<\/a> that the child was due in the fall. The new arrival beat that prediction by about a month.<\/p>\n Plaza has made inroads in movies including \u201cSafety Not Guaranteed\u201d and \u201cEmily the Criminal\u201d but may be best known for her breakout TV role as April Ludgate in \u201cParks and Recreation<\/a>\u201d and her deadpan delivery in that mockumentary sitcom as well as in interviews<\/a>. She met Abbott when they worked together on the 2020 psychological thriller \u201cBlack Bear.\u201d The two reunited again in 2023 for the off-Broadway revival of \u201cDanny and the Deep Blue Sea<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n On stage in \u201cDanny,\u201d the two portrayed volatile lovers. Behind the curtain, the pair raved about working together, telling the New York Times<\/a> ahead of the 2023 premiere, \u201cHe cares but he also doesn\u2019t care; it\u2019s the best recipe for me for a scene partner,\u201d Plaza said.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s fun and it\u2019s also good and it\u2019s also safe. I like to just throw things out the window also and laugh and mess around and not take it so seriously. It\u2019s a hard combo to come by,\u201d said Plaza.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re both unafraid to be ugly and weird and strange,\u201d said Abbott, who is known for his role as Charlie Dattolo in the HBO comedy-drama \u201cGirls.\u201d<\/p>\n News of the pregnancy \u2014 and the couple\u2019s relationship \u2014 surfaced a year after the death of Plaza\u2019s husband, Jeff Baena, an independent filmmaker who directed her in the 2017 comedy \u201cThe Little Hours.\u201d<\/p>\n According to the Los Angeles County coroner\u2019s office, 47-year-old Baena<\/a> died by suicide in January 2025; the pair \u2014 who married in 2021 \u2014 had been separated for a few months before his death.
