Nobody was injured.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The Dublin Bus E1 vehicle was stopped on the R138 Morehampton Road at the junction with Appian Way in a northbound lane. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A passenger on board the bus told The Irish Times they heard a \u201cloud noise\u201d before they were asked to alight. Photograph: Hugh Dooley\/The Irish Times <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Significant fire damage was visible on both levels of the vehicle, mostly at the back of the bus where the engine is located.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Smoke from the bus disrupted traffic on several roads in the area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The bus was towed from Donnybrook by a rescue vehicle shortly after 11am to be brought to a depot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">In a statement, Dublin Bus said \u201call passengers were evacuated from the bus\u201d and that no one was injured.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cDublin Bus has begun a full investigation into the incident,\u201d a spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Rear of the Dublin Bus caught on fire in Donnybrook. Photograph: Hugh Dooley\/The Irish Times <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Two fire engines, an ambulance and senior officer from Dublin Fire Brigade\u2019s Donnybrook station attended the incident.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cNumerous\u201d 999 calls were made to the fire service in relation to the fire, a Dublin Fire Brigade spokesman said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cFirefighters in breathing apparatus used high-pressure hose reels to extinguish and the ambulance from Donnybrook fire station was released from the scene as no injuries were reported,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cThe inbound carriageway was closed to traffic during the firefighting operation whilst outbound traffic continued to flow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The service said the cause of the fire would be determined by garda\u00ed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">In a notice to customers, Dublin Bus said that \u201cdue to an incident, Morehampton Street is closed\u201d and that E1 and E2 buses travelling both northbound and southbound would be diverted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Buses heading into the city will divert down Waterloo Road and Baggot Street before turning on to Pembroke Street Upper and back on to their normal routes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Southbound buses will follow the same diversion in reverse.
