More AI<\/a> features, better cameras and improved battery life were the focus of Google<\/a>\u2019s newest smartphones as the company tries to keep pace with its rivals. <\/p>\n

The Pixel Fold 11 series, which includes the Pixel 11, 11 Pro, Pro XL and the Pro Fold, were made available for pre-order ahead of the Made by Google event on Wednesday. <\/p>\n

Google has switched up its hardware events, making the devices available to order before executives make any announcement. Last year\u2019s event saw Jimmy Fallon hosting a late-night TV style event to showcase the new phones; this year, Google has recruited Trevor Noah to front the launch. <\/p>\n

The company has designed the new Pixels for use with its Gemini<\/a> AI features as the mobile maker tries to win over consumers to its devices by touting the benefits of the advanced technology. <\/p>\n

Google\u2019s new \u201cHiLight\u201d feature, which illuminates the back of the phone, glows to alert you when you are talking with Gemini, or if favourite contacts are calling. That will be available only on the 11 Pro devices. <\/p>\n

The company also touted the tweaked design of the 11 Pro Fold, which has a more compact camera bar and a redesigned durable hinge. <\/p>\n

The once-niche folding phone market is trying to force itself into the mainstream. Last month, Samsung<\/a> unveiled a redesigned Galaxy Z Fold 8 that is intended to appeal to a wider market, while Apple<\/a> is widely expected to launch its own folding phone next month alongside the iPhone 18. Samsung also introduced the Fold 8 Ultra, pitching it as a work and productivity device compared to the Fold 8\u2019s focus on content consumption.<\/p>\n

Google also revealed its new wearables at Wednesday\u2019s event, including the Pixel Watch 5 and new Pixel Buds Pro earbuds, alongside the Pixel Tag bluetooth tracker. The last comes with ultra wideband that allows users to track down items more precisely. <\/p>\n

The Pixel Watch 5 will also feature new health measurements, such as tracking insulin resistance over time by monitoring physiological indicators that the body is working to produce energy from food. That includes AI, and some of the sensors built into the devices, such as heart rate, skin temperature and the device\u2019s accelerometer. <\/p>\n

It will not be able to measure blood glucose directly, a feature that other smartwatches have tried to crack in the past. <\/p>\n
