\n\tNeither Eisenberg<\/a> nor Garfield will return<\/a> in the new film.<\/p>\n

\n\tDeadline first reported that Oscar-winner <\/a>Mikey Madison<\/a> (Anora) and The Bear star Jeremy Allen White were top choices to star in the movie. Towards the end of Sept. 2025, their castings and that of Jeremy Strong as Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg<\/a> were made official along with the film\u2019s title and release date. Bill Burr (Old Dads, The King of Staten Island) also is starring.<\/p>\n

\n\tDeadline also first reported Wunmi Mosaku\u2019s casting<\/a>. The Sinners star can be seen in the film\u2019s first trailer. Her recruitment was followed by that of<\/a> Billy Magnussen, Betty Gilpin, Gbenga Akinnagbe and Anna Lambe.<\/p>\n

\n\tDeadline also broke the news<\/a> that Aidan Laprete (The Pitt, Drivers Ed),\u00a0Kelley Pereira<\/a>\u00a0(The Runarounds) and\u00a0Nelson Franklin<\/a>\u00a0(Veep)\u00a0had joined the cast. Then came<\/a> Portia Doubleday (Mr. Robot), Patrick Fischler (American Fiction), Joey Brooks (Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty), Sierra Capri (Netflix\u2019s On My Block and Tehmina Sunny (Partner Track).<\/p>\n

\n\tWhat is The Social Reckoning about?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n\tSorkin\u2019s original\u00a0screenplay for the new movie explores the story behind the\u00a0Wall Street Journal\u2018s\u00a0The Facebook Files<\/a>\u00a0by reporter Jeff Horwitz, an explosive series of articles published in October 2021 that exposed\u00a0the inner workings of \u2014 and multiple harms caused by \u2014 Facebook. White will play journalist Horwitz and Madison will play the whistleblower, Frances Haugen, behind the series of articles.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe companion film will be more of a thriller vs. The Social Network.<\/p>\n
