KIRKSVILLE, Mo. \u2014 A colorful new addition to downtown Kirksville is gradually coming to life.<\/p>\n
Artist Gracie Blickhan, of Holts Summit, Missouri, is painting a large new mural on the south wall of Pickell Abstract Company at 115 South Franklin Street.<\/p>\n
Blickhan started the project a week ago.<\/p>\n
She has been painting professionally as an artist for five years now.<\/p>\n
She specializes in murals and window paintings.<\/p>\n
Blickhan told KTVO that this latest mural in Kirksville is approximately her 10th one.<\/p>\n
“The owner reached out about me doing this project, and she knows that mainly the art I do is more like nature, flowers, stuff like that, so she wanted me to incorporate that into the design,\u201d Blickhan said. \u201cBut also, since they’re a title company, she wanted the houses included, and then of course, since this is downtown, she wanted big letter of “Welcome to Downtown Kirksville.”<\/p>\n
The mural is being paid for with a $15,000 grant from AARP.<\/p>\n
