The Maine Bureau of Insurance said higher medical costs, prescription drug prices and provider expenses are driving the increases.<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"3\">Insurers had sought even larger hikes of 16.8% for individual plans and 15.7% for small-group coverage.<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"4\">\u201cWhile these final increases are lower than insurers initially requested, we know they will still be difficult for Maine people and small businesses,\u201d acting Insurance Superintendent Timothy Schott said.<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"5\">Maine\u2019s individual insurance market covers roughly 65,000 people, primarily through CoverME.gov, the state\u2019s Affordable Care Act marketplace.
