Fontaines D.C.<\/a>\u00a0have shared a cryptic new teaser that\u00a0appears to reveal\u00a0the title of their fifth album as \u2018Dopamine Chamber\u2019.<\/p>\n

The Dublin band have been giving fans\u00a0tantalising\u00a0glimpses into their new record in recent weeks and now they have given the strongest hint yet that the follow-up to\u00a0their\u00a02024 album \u2018Romance<\/a>\u2018 will be out before the end of the year.<\/p>\n

Earlier today (August 16), they posted a 26-second video to their X account that shows a spinning blue planet transform into a throbbing blue iris, before the words \u201cDopamine Chamber\u201d appear, followed by \u201c2026\u201d.<\/p>\n

The video is soundtracked by the unreleased track \u2018Six Shot Morning\u2019,\u00a0one of two songs the band debuted during their first headline show of 2026 last week in Spain<\/a>, while the post is captioned \u201cD.c.\u201d, in reference both to their own name and the new album\u2019s presumed title.<\/p>\n

As well as \u2018Six Shot Morning\u2019, Fontaines debuted \u2018Marianne\u2019 at the show at the Baluarte de la Candelaria in\u00a0C\u00e1diz on August 8, and on Friday (August 14), they\u00a0shared a 30-second preview of that song<\/a>, which will serve as the lead single of \u2018Dopamine Chamber\u2019.<\/p>\n

Alongside that preview, the band also unveiled a new blue logo in a post simply labelled \u201c5\u201d, in reference to this being their fifth studio album.<\/p>\n

\u2018Dopamine Chamber\u2019 will follow \u2018Romance\u2019, which was produced by\u00a0James Ford<\/a>\u00a0and reached Number Two on the UK Albums Chart. It was also\u00a0nominated for Best Rock Album\u00a0at the Grammys<\/a>\u00a0and was\u00a0named by\u00a0NME\u00a0as the\u00a0second best\u00a0album of 2024<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The band have spoken about working on their fifth album for some time.\u00a0Talking to\u00a0NME\u00a0in February last year<\/a>, bassist Conor Deegan III said: \u201cIt\u2019s one of those things where we can\u2019t stop writing \u2013 it\u2019s something that we just do when we\u2019re with each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

Guitarist Carlos O\u2019Connell\u00a0offered another update in January, telling\u00a0NME<\/a>: \u201cWe\u2019ve\u00a0been writing,\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0been fun.\u00a0We\u2019re\u00a0at Reading & Leeds and there are a couple of shows before that. I think if the music is there, it could get busy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked about whether they might play new material at the festivals, he replied: \u201cI\u2019d\u00a0say so. If there is stuff written, then I would say so,\u00a0yeah.\u00a0That\u2019s\u00a0what we used to do all the time, play the new stuff life \u2013 songs that\u00a0weren\u2019t\u00a0even finished.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0a good way\u00a0to test the songs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fontaines will play a few shows around Europe \u2013 in France,\u00a0Switzerland\u00a0and Austria \u2013 in the coming days, before\u00a0topping the bill at Reading & Leeds at the end of the month<\/a>. They then return home\u00a0to headline Electric Picnic in Ireland on August 30<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Their return to the stage followed\u00a0the death of their manager Trevor Dietz<\/a>, who they described as \u201cthe sixth member of the band\u201d.\u00a0Their first performance since his passing was\u00a0at the BBC\u2019s final live session at Maida Vale earlier this month<\/a>.<\/p>\n

They released\u00a0the standalone single \u2018It\u2019s Amazing To Be Young\u2019 in February<\/a>, covered\u00a0Sin\u00e9ad O\u2019Connor\u2019s \u2018Black Boys\u00a0On\u00a0Mopeds\u2019 for War Child\u2019s \u2018Help(2)\u2019 album<\/a>, contributed to\u00a0the soundtrack for Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man<\/a>, and last night (August 15),\u00a0they were joined by Kurt Vile for \u2018Roman Holiday\u2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n
