This week, the agency released an artist&#8217;s concept of the <a data-ylk=\"slk:SkyFall;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/science.nasa.gov\/mission\/skyfall\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">SkyFall<\/a> aircrafts flying over the red planet.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">SkyFall is set to launch aboard NASA&#8217;s Space Reactor-1 Freedom in late 2028. NASA will use what it describes as a &#8220;<a data-ylk=\"slk:daring mid-air deployment;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/science.nasa.gov\/mission\/skyfall\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">daring mid-air deployment<\/a>&#8221; to deliver three helicopters equipped with advanced instruments for subsurface and infrared surface mapping, visible light imagery, temperature monitoring, and much more.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The new image shows the three helicopters scanning the Martian surface. According to a <a data-ylk=\"slk:statement;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/science.nasa.gov\/photojournal\/nasas-skyfall-helicopters-at-work-artists-concept\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">statement<\/a> from NASA, the green frequency waves emanating from the antennae depict the collection of subsurface radar data while the red beams depict the collection of near-infrared imagery data from crushed rock and dirt and other surfaces.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The antennas you see in the image needed a lot of work to become a reality. The helicopters will be fitted with a <a data-ylk=\"slk:unique flexible antenna;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jpl.nasa.gov\/news\/nasa-tests-featherweight-radar-antenna-for-skyfall-mars-helicopters\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">unique flexible antenna<\/a> covered in polyester and Vectran, a high-performance manufactured fiber used to make landing airbags for Mars rovers.
