Niu Lai, or The Arrival of the Ox, has been criticised for its \u201crough\u201d and \u201cbroken\u201d style and a plot that many viewers found hard to follow.<\/p>\n
The popularity of the two American films has already seen the release of some high-profile Chinese films \u2013 including Three Kingdoms: The Beginning, a historical drama set in the third century \u2013 being delayed or cancelled.<\/p>\n
Niu Lai\u2019s plot, which revolves around a dream sequence involving a calf and a skylark that helps teach him about love, courage, perseverance and sacrifice, has been widely criticised as confusing.<\/p>\n
Its \u201cunpolished\u201d animation further riled viewers, with Beijing News describing it as \u201cstiff and glitchy\u201d and the voice acting as \u201cjarring\u201d.<\/p>\n
