\n\tThe BBC<\/a> on Monday released a new action-packed trailer for the third season of hit drama\u00a0Vigil<\/a>\u00a0and unveiled that the show, starring Suranna Jones<\/a> and Rose Leslie<\/a>, will launch on BBC iPlayer and BBC One starting on\u00a0Sunday, Aug. 30. <\/p>\n

The six-part season, made by World Productions\u00a0(Line of Duty, Until I Kill You, Showtrial),\u00a0part of ITV Studios, was filmed in Svalbard, Norway and Scotland. Two episodes of\u00a0Vigil\u00a0will become available weekly on BBC iPlayer from Aug. 30, with the series airing Sunday and Monday nights at 9 p.m. on BBC One from that date.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe new season sees DCI Amy Silva (Jones) and DI Kirsten Longacre (Leslie) return for a high-stakes investigation that takes them to a remote Arctic research station, where a member of a covert British special forces mission has been shot dead. \u201cAmy and Kirsten will need to catch the killer and defuse a potential international<\/a> confrontation, as different nations compete for control of the Arctic and its resources in the changing polar climate,\u00a0with both their careers and relationship on the line,\u201d highlights a synopsis. \u201cAs the mission rapidly unfolds, Amy and Kirsten begin to question who they can trust.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe trailer also shows the return of\u00a0Dominic Mafham, who is reprising his role as Sir Ian Downing and new cast members, such as Jeppe Beck Laursen\u00a0(The Last Kingdom, The Trip), as Svalbard\u2019s Chief of Police,\u00a0Naomi Yang\u00a0(Under Salt Marsh, Wolfe),\u00a0as a microbiologist,\u00a0Tornike Gogrichiani\u00a0(Extraction 2, Drops of God),\u00a0as a Russian colonel;\u00a0Steven Miller\u00a0(Dept. Q, Shetland) and\u00a0Benjamin Wainwright (Maigret, Belgravia: The Next Chapter) as Special Boat Service operators, as well as\u00a0Danusia Samal\u00a0(Red Eye, The Great), Eric Godon\u00a0(In Bruges, Anna),\u00a0and\u00a0Amy Manson\u00a0(Rebus, Bodies).\u00a0Gary Lewis\u00a0is reprising his role as DSU Robertson, who works closely with Amy and Kirsten.<\/p>\n

\n\tVigil\u00a0season 3 is produced by World Productions<\/a> in association with ITV Studios<\/a> for the BBC. It is written and created by\u00a0Tom Edge. Additional writers for this season are\u00a0Tom Mair\u00a0and\u00a0Eve Hedderwick Turner. The producer is\u00a0Marcus Wilson, with associate producer\u00a0George Aza-Selinger. Executive producers are\u00a0Jake Lushington\u00a0for World Productions,\u00a0Gaynor Holmes\u00a0for the BBC, and\u00a0Tom Edge.\u00a0Stephanie Fyfe\u00a0is the commissioning executive for the BBC. The series is directed by\u00a0Gareth Bryn\u00a0(Karen Pirie, The Gathering) and\u00a0Faye Gilbert\u00a0(The Bay, The Tower). <\/p>\n
