A third installment, titled The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, premiered in 2006 with Justin Lin as director.<\/p>\n<p>Lin would continue directing the franchise with\u00a0Fast &amp; Furious (2009),\u00a0Fast Five (2011),\u00a0and\u00a0Fast &amp; Furious 6 (2013).<\/p>\n<p>James Wan took over directing duties in 2015\u2019s\u00a0Furious 7. In 2017,\u00a0The Fate of the Furious premiered with F. Gary Gray directing.<\/p>\n<p>David Leitch directed a\u00a0Fast &amp; Furious spinoff titled\u00a0Hobbs &amp; Shaw in 2019, with Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham starring.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/gallery\/lanterns-premiere-red-carpet-photos-dc-studios\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u2018Lanterns\u2019 Premiere Red Carpet Photos: Kyle Chandler, Aaron Pierre &amp; More<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lin returned to direct F9 in 2029, and Louis Leterrier directed Fast X in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Fast Forever is set to premiere on March 17, 2028, with Leterrier directing. The film is reportedly the last one in the franchise with Diesel reprising his role of Dominic Toretto.<\/p>\n<p>Diesel recently <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/08\/vin-diesel-fast-forever-best-script-still-crying-1237015315\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">praised the script for the latest installment<\/a>, sharing on Instagram, \u201cYou have no idea\u2026 When March 17th 2028 comes\u2026 you will thank God you got to see the first one in the theaters this summer. I just read the Fast Forever script by Mike Leslie. It is the best script I have read in decades.
