found in her home by police in Greenville, South Carolina.<\/a><\/p>\nOfficers responded to a call made by an acquaintance reporting that the actress was \u201cunresponsive\u201d and in \u201ccardiac arrest\u201d.<\/p>\n
A postmortem was completed by the Greenville County coroner\u2019s office which found that \u201cno signs of trauma were discovered that would have contributed to the death\u201d.<\/p>\n
The cause and manner of death have not been confirmed.<\/p>\n
A statement from Greenville police department said: \u201cOn August 16th, 2026, at approximately 1.51pm, officers from the Greenville police department, accompanied by EMS personnel, responded to a report of an unresponsive female at Judson Mill Lofts, located at 701 Easley Bridge Road.<\/p>\n
\u201cUpon arrival, medical assistance was administered; however, the individual, later identified as Hayden Panettiere, was pronounced deceased at the scene.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe case is under investigation by the Greenville police department in conjunction with the Greenville county coroner\u2019s office.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe preliminary investigation has not indicated any signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances.<\/p>\n
\u201cAn acquaintance of Ms Panettiere placed the 911 call.\u201d<\/p>\n
A representative for the actress confirmed the death, saying her family would remember her as an \u201cincredible light\u201d who brought \u201cimmeasurable love and joy to all who knew her\u201d.<\/p>\n
A statement from Panettiere\u2019s father Skip said: \u201cIt is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her \u2013 and to the millions who watched her onscreen.\u201d<\/p>\n
Her father also asked that her family be given privacy as they \u201ctake time to process this unimaginable loss\u201d.<\/p>\n
The 36-year-old began acting as a child, appearing in soap operas before gaining wider recognition for her role in the 2000 sports drama Remember The Titans alongside Denzel Washington, and as the voice of Dot in Pixar\u2019s 1998 film A Bug\u2019s Life.<\/p>\n
Panettiere later found fame playing cheerleader Claire Bennet in the superhero drama Heroes before going on to star as up-and-coming country singer Juliette Barnes for six seasons on the hit TV series Nashville.<\/p>\n
Her performances in Nashville earned her two Golden Globe nominations for best supporting actress while her singing on the show produced 11 entries on the US Billboard Hot Country Songs charts.<\/p>\n
Panettiere\u2019s film credits include 2006\u2019s Bring It On: All Or Nothing, comedy-drama film Raising Helen, and appearances in Scream 4 and Scream VI as Kirby Reed.<\/p>\n
Following her rapid rise to fame, the pressure of the industry began to weigh on Panettiere \u2013 with the actress previously revealing that she had struggled with addiction throughout her 20s.<\/p>\n
In a memoir published earlier this year, Panettiere opened up about her struggles with mental health, the loss of her younger brother, Jansen, and her decision to give full custody of her daughter Kaya to her former partner, Ukrainian boxer Wladimir Klitschko, in 2018.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe idea that anyone would think that I would just give away my child and be okay with it is heartbreaking and couldn\u2019t be further from the truth,\u201d she told podcaster Jay Shetty after the release of her memoir in May.<\/p>\n
Panettiere said her daughter had lived with her father full-time from a young age amid the actress\u2019s struggles with addiction and mental health.<\/p>\n
She said: \u201cI was struggling with mental health and anxiety, and the postpartum and having to act my way through it and just feeling like I completely lost myself.\u201d<\/p>\n
Klitschko said on Tuesday his family was \u201cgoing through a time of profound shock and grief\u201d, following Panettiere\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe announcement of Hayden\u2019s tragic death saddens me deeply. She left this world far too soon. Hayden was, although no longer my partner, an important part of my life and the mother of our daughter, Kaya.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe built an incredible career through immense talent, while also facing the darker sides of a very demanding industry. Nothing will erase the times we shared or the place she had in our lives.<\/p>\n
