Genre fans, take note. Fantastic Fest<\/a>, the most reliably eclectic and unapologetically strange American film<\/a> festival on the fall calendar, has unveiled a lineup that promises to delight any cinephile whose tastes lie outside the conventional.<\/p>\n

The 21st edition will kick off with a gala screening of Zach Cregger\u2019s \u201cResident Evil\u201d<\/a> \u2014 a natural choice, given that it\u2019s both one of the most anticipated genre films of the year and a major priority for Sony, which also owns Alamo Drafthouse and Fantastic Fest. Other highlights include the U.S. premiere of Mike Flanagan\u2019s \u201cCarrie\u201d TV show, the North American premiere of \u201cVictorian Psycho,\u201d<\/a> a screening of Martin McDonagh\u2019s \u201cWild Horse Nine,\u201d and Lionsgate\u2019s jungle survival film \u201cBeware Boi\u00fana,\u201d which will also screen on opening night.<\/p>\n
