Over 80,000 people will attend the sold-out festival.<\/p>\n<p>Bank of Ireland said people should protect themselves by using official resale or ticket transfer platforms.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It strongly advised against making purchases through social media or private messaging apps. Last year, a high-profile scam run on social media saw a woman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thejournal.ie\/garda-investigation-social-media-scam-electric-picnic-6794763-Aug2025\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">amass a six-figure sum after falsely claiming to have tickets<\/a> for sale for the festival.<\/p>\n<p>There has been a 28% rise in purchase scams reported to the bank in the first half of 2026 compared to the same period last year.<\/p>\n<p>Bank of Ireland advised people seeking to purchase resell tickets to look out for the following:\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tickets being offered at unusually low prices.<\/li>\n<li>Sellers looking for a quick sale.<\/li>\n<li>Pressure to act fast or pay immediately.<\/li>\n<li>Requests to move the purchase outside of an official ticketing resale platform.<\/li>\n<li>Sellers who can only provide screenshots as proof of purchase.<\/li>\n<li>Sellers unwilling to use official ticket transfer or resale facilities.<\/li>\n<li>Ticket adverts or offers appearing on social media or through unsolicited messages.<\/li>\n<li>Fraudsters use fake social media profiles, advertise non-existent accommodation passes, or sell the same ticket to multiple buyers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you think you\u2019ve been targeted in a scam, contact your bank immediately. The sooner you do so the higher the likelihood the bank can potentially recover any funds.<\/p>\n<p>Bank of Ireland\u2019s head of fraud protection Nicola Sadlier said potential purchasers should be wary of deals that \u201cseem too good to be true\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStop, think and check before making a payment, this can help protect both your money and your festival plans,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"PEOPLE LOOKING TO score last-minute tickets to Electric Picnic have been urged to remain vigilant for scams.
