Chris Hansen says he\u2019s reserving judgement on Primetime<\/a> \u2014 the new movie that portrays him as an egomaniac hopped up on a ratings high for his show To Catch a Predator \u2014 because he\u2019s a good journalist. \u201cAs a reporter, it\u2019s sort of silly for me to talk about something that I haven\u2019t seen yet,\u201d he said on the Serialously<\/a> podcast. \u201cMy suspicion is that they used my name because it helps in a commercial enterprise.\u201d Hansen added that he has some reservations about the film: \u201cWhat\u2019s Hollywood\u2019s motive here?\u201d<\/p>\n Hansen lamented that he never got to make his version of his life story, with a very different actor in the lead role. \u201cI didn\u2019t get to choose my own guy,\u201d he said. \u201cYears ago, I had crafted a script and thought Denis Leary would be a good guy to play me \u2014 depending on the age of it all.\u201d The difference in vibe is striking. Leary is so honest about being an asshole that he wrote a song about it<\/a>; Pattinson is such a fabulist he can\u2019t always distinguish the lies he tells to press<\/a> from his own lived experience. Leary is the quintessential Gen Xer; Pattinson is convinced, despite all vital statistics, that he is Gen Z<\/a>. Leary starred on Rescue Me<\/a> for seven seasons, a show about New York firefighters post-9\/11; Pattinson\u2019s sole contribution to 9\/11 media is very much pre-<\/a>. And Dennis Leary has never tried to invent a microwavable pasta<\/a>. Not once! Suffice to say, Hansen\u2019s self-image differs greatly from Lance Oppenheim\u2019s conception.
