Ireland\u2019s largest occupational healthcare provider, Medmark<\/a>, has secured \u201ca significant strategic investment\u201d that will be used to expand its clinical teams and enhance its digital health platforms<\/a>, among other operational improvements. <\/p>\n

The Irish Times understands the investment from Phoenix Equity Partners, a UK-based mid-market private equity firm, to be in the region of \u20ac70 million. <\/p>\n

Medmark said the investment \u201crepresents a major milestone … following a period of sustained expansion\u201d that will enable the company \u201cto accelerate a number of strategic initiatives already under way across the business\u201d. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis includes expanding its clinical and operational teams, investing further in technology and digital health platforms, enhancing customer reporting and service delivery capabilities, and broadening its geographic reach,\u201d said the occupational health services provider.<\/p>\n

The company said it would also allow it to pursue \u201ccomplementary acquisition opportunities\u201d and develop new services \u201cto meet the evolving occupational health and workplace wellbeing needs of employers across Ireland\u201d.<\/p>\n

Medmark\u2019s most recent company filings, for 2024, showed a 21.63 per cent increase in turnover from the previous year to \u20ac17.13 million. Pretax profit more than doubled from \u20ac2.06 million in 2023 to \u20ac4.36 million, the filings show.<\/p>\n

The company was founded in 1987 and says it now provides occupational healthcare services to half a million employees nationwide. Last December, it acquired Belfast-based Blackwell Associates, giving it an entry into the Northern Irish market.<\/p>\n

Paul O\u2019Grady and Dr Robert Ryan \u201cwill continue to lead Medmark\u2019s day-to-day operations and strategic direction\u201d, the company said, adding that Phoenix Equity Partners would support the business through board-level involvement, capital investment and access to operational expertise.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat is particularly exciting about this next chapter is not only the opportunity to continue growing our business, but also to deepen the impact we have on the lives of those we serve,\u201d said Ryan, Medmark\u2019s chief executive.<\/p>\n

\u201cMedmark\u2019s strength has always been rooted in the expertise, dedication and professionalism of our clinical and non-clinical teams,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Barry Robinson, a partner at Phoenix, said his firm had been \u201chugely impressed\u201d by Medmark, adding that \u201cat the core of their success has been a clear and consistent focus on clinical excellence over many years, supported by an outstanding and people-centric culture\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cEach of our investments is underpinned by deep sector research and … we believe Medmark is well placed to benefit from growing demand for occupational health and workplace wellbeing services across Ireland,\u201d said Robinson.<\/p>\n
