Megan Stalter<\/a> walked into the 2025 Emmys Awards<\/a> choosing peace.<\/p>\n

At first glance, the comedian\u2019s outfit\u2014white T-shirt, blue jeans, black belt, pointy black flats, and black shades\u2014looked like something taken out of the daytime red carpets of the early aughts. It seemed like a response to the over-glamourization of Hollywood red carpets. But upon closer look, one could see a very important accessory\u2014one that delivered a powerful call to action and put everything else on that carpet into perspective.<\/p>\n

On her shoulder, Stalter carried a black leather bag on which she had placed some pieces of white tape with a strong message written in black marker: \u201cCEASEFIRE!\u201d<\/p>\n

The star\u2019s message was in direct reference to the ongoing war between Israel and Gaza. As of September 14, 2025, at least 64,871 Palestinians and approximately 1,200 Israelis have been killed since the war broke out on October 7, 2023, per the Gaza Health Ministry. <\/p>\n

Stalter has risen to the spotlight thanks to her viral character comedy on TikTok and Instagram (which hit a peak during the Covid-19 pandemic), as well as her breakout role as the funny but incompetent assistant Kayla on the hit HBO Max series Hacks. Tonight at the Emmys, Stalter\u2019s Hacks costar Hannah Einbinder also called for peace amidst the world\u2019s many conflicts.
