{"id":649003,"date":"2026-08-21T12:08:13","date_gmt":"2026-08-21T12:08:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/649003\/"},"modified":"2026-08-21T12:08:13","modified_gmt":"2026-08-21T12:08:13","slug":"four-men-arrested-over-burglaries-after-gardai-stop-car-with-false-registration-plates-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/649003\/","title":{"rendered":"Four men arrested over burglaries after garda\u00ed stop car with false registration plates \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Four men have been arrested in connection with burglaries carried out in various locations around the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/ireland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/ireland\/\">country<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/garda-siochana\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/garda-siochana\/\">Garda\u00ed<\/a> attached to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/ireland\/dublin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/ireland\/dublin\/\">Dublin<\/a> crime response team (DCRT), supported by local Garda units, arrested the men following a managed containment operation on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/m50\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/m50\/\">M50<\/a> and in the west of the Dublin metropolitan region.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A managed containment operation involves garda\u00ed tracking and stopping a suspect vehicle. If the driver refuses to stop, trained garda\u00ed surround the vehicle and safely force it to a halt, minimising risk to the public.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">At about 10.30am on Thursday, garda\u00ed stopped a vehicle and arrested four men they believe to be members of an organised burglary gang. Three are aged in their 20s and one is in his 40s.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \"> Garda\u00ed say they believe this group has used the car in question in a number of burglaries and similar incidents nationwide. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The car, a silver 2006 Volvo S40, was searched and items including gloves and face coverings were seized. The car had false registration plates.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The four were arrested at the scene and are being detained under section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 at Garda stations in the Dublin region.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Garda\u00ed have appealed to anyone who may have seen the vehicle in their area to come forward.
