RAYE says she won’t record her third album until she falls in love, calling it a creative “strike”<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
The Grammy-nominated singer is tired of writing songs about heartbreak and wants a fresh perspective for her music<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
RAYE was recently spotted with Michael B. Jordan, but sources say they are just friends despite romance rumors<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
RAYE<\/a> is explaining what is taking her so long.\u00a0<\/p>\n The 28-year-old British singer dropped a major bomb while performing on the Today<\/a> show’s Citi Summer Concert Series on Thursday, Aug. 20.\u00a0<\/p>\n After confirming that she plans to name her third studio album, And Then She Fell in Love, Raye shared that she has no intention of recording the album until its title is true.\u00a0<\/p>\n “I’m on strike, basically. I’m on strike from making an album until I fall in love basically,” the “Where Is My Husband!” singer shared on the 3rd Hour of Today. “Because, do you know what it is? I’ve written so many songs. Picture this: I’ve been a songwriter for a really long time and your perspective\u2026 my perspective has largely just been, ‘This didn’t work out or this sucks or I’m alone. My ex that time, or my ex that time.’ So I’m just very bored of that perspective.”\u00a0<\/p>\n Raye performs on Today in New York City on Aug. 20, 2026 Co-host Craig Melvin<\/a> clarified, “Wait, you’re not gonna put out another album until you find Mr. Right?”<\/p>\n Raye was quick to confirm, saying, “Absolutely. I’m hard-set. It could be 10 years, guys.”\u00a0<\/p>\n RAYE performs at Preston Park in East Sussex on Aug. 1, 2026 Weatherman Al Roker<\/a> noted that it could be less time, and Raye replied, “That’s the optimist’s perspective. Because it’s enough ‘I’m single, this guy done me wrong, this sucks about this and that’ songs. I’m tired of writing songs like that. The end. No. So my next album is gonna be called And Then She Fell in Love, and I will fall in love and I will write an album.”\u00a0<\/p>\n RAYE did spark some romance rumors<\/a> earlier this month when she was spotted with Oscar winner Michael B. Jordan<\/a> at Six Flags in Los Angeles.\u00a0<\/p>\n At the time, a source told PEOPLE that the pair are “just friends,” but added, “Things are new between them.
