\t\t\t\tNew day, new Android Auto patch. While it\u2019s definitely a good thing that Google manages to fix more issues in Android Auto<\/a>, the software update announced on this occasion might upset some users.\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n

This is because Google hasn\u2019t released a software update as part of a new Android Auto version, but tells users to reach out to their dealers to get it.<\/p>\n

It all started in mid-2025, when someone took to the Google forums to report struggles with Android Auto in their Skoda<\/a> car. Weeks later, it was discovered that all cars in the Volkswagen Group, including more Skoda models, Audi, and Volkswagen cars were struggling with the same glitch.<\/p>\n

Android Auto failed to connect, and when it did – \u201conce in a blue moon\u201d as someone said on the forums – it disconnected minutes later. If it didn\u2019t, certain essential features weren\u2019t working, such as phone calls and sending messages.<\/p>\n

The issue plagued a significant number of users, making it quite widespread. Users kept looking into the workarounds they found online, but nothing seemed to work. Some said they had managed to get Android Auto up and running with a wireless adapter, but those who already had factory wireless support in their cars were left with no option.<\/p>\n

In my Skoda, the issue was happening with both wired and wireless connections, but I guess I was lucky. I encountered the glitch only sporadically, and I think the reason is the software version running on my Skoda head unit. I had my car serviced last winter, and the dealership told me they also updated my infotainment unit.<\/p>\n

Google says everybody has to do the same thing now to fix these Android Auto connection problems, disconnects, and freezes.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve found that the root cause is related to the car\u2019s head unit,\u201d a Google Community Specialist explains in the discussion thread<\/a> on the Google forums.<\/p>\n

It looks like Google has worked with Volkswagen\u2019s engineers to get this fixed, and the company says that \u201cyour car manufacturer now has a fix available.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Community Specialist recommends that users battling this bug to contact their nearest dealership, where they should be getting additional information and the patch that corrects this problem. If the update doesn\u2019t work, asking for assistance from the dealership \u201cwould be the best next step,\u201d Google says.<\/p>\n

Oddly, my dealer says no newer software update is available for my 2022 Skoda (as I said, I still encounter the glitch occasionally), so I\u2019m wondering if this is also the case with other dealers and brands in the Volkswagen Group. Let me know in the comments box below if you get this patch and the issue is gone now.<\/p>\n

Otherwise, as someone says on the forums, CarPlay is just working fine.
