As first noted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.phoronix.com\/news\/AMD-RDNA-4m-Firmware-Published\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Phoronix<\/a>, AMD has published the firmware needed for its upcoming RDNA 4m integrated graphics, giving us another indication that the Zen 6-based mobile chips are nearing their debut.<\/p>\n<p>RDNA 4m is a rather interesting hybrid<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new firmware targets AMD\u2019s GFX 11.7 graphics IP, known as RDNA 4m. It sits in an unusual position between the existing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitaltrends.com\/computing\/amd-ryzen-9000-specs-leaked\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">RDNA 3.5 architecture<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitaltrends.com\/computing\/amd-rx-9000-rdna-4-roundup\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">full-blown RDNA 4<\/a>. AMD\u2019s desktop RDNA 4 GPUs use the newer GFX 12 family, while RDNA 4m remains part of the GFX 11 branch.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1800\" height=\"1080\" data-wp-class--hide=\"state.isContentHidden\" data-wp-class--show=\"state.isContentVisible\" data-wp-init=\"callbacks.setButtonStyles\" data-wp-on--click=\"actions.showLightbox\" data-wp-on--load=\"callbacks.setButtonStyles\" data-wp-on--pointerdown=\"actions.preloadImage\" data-wp-on--pointerenter=\"actions.preloadImageWithDelay\" data-wp-on--pointerleave=\"actions.cancelPreload\" data-wp-on-window--resize=\"callbacks.setButtonStyles\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/GFX-11.7-family-firmware-showcasing-AMD-Medusa-Point-leak.jpg\" alt=\"GFX 11.7 family firmware showcasing AMD Medusa Point leak\" class=\"wp-image-6000325\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/git.kernel.org\/pub\/scm\/linux\/kernel\/git\/firmware\/linux-firmware.git\/commit\/?id=8c7fac62c0d1c3b8915f596effc1ef6e95fd6b5f\" rel=\"nofollow noskim noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kernel<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The \u201cm\u201d is widely believed to stand for mobile, with RDNA 4m seemingly designed specifically for APUs. Earlier Linux and LLVM work suggests it brings some RDNA 4-style features, including FP8\/BF8 conversion and WMMA instructions, potentially giving Medusa Point newer AI and graphics capabilities without a complete graphics architecture overhaul.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new firmware supports GFX 11.7.0 and 11.7.1, along with security, display, and memory-management components, suggesting AMD is getting much of the software stack ready for the new chips. That\u2019s especially interesting given <a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitaltrends.com\/computing\/amd-medusa-point-leak-hints-at-more-zen-6-cores-higher-cache-and-performance-boost\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">previous leaks of a 10-core Zen 6 Medusa Point APU<\/a> in Geekbench, which showed promising performance gains over current Ryzen mobile chips. AMD has confirmed the Medusa codename for its next-gen Zen 6 client platform, but the exact specifications and launch details are still under wraps.<\/p>\n<p>The APU refresh is getting spicy<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The biggest question now is what AMD can actually squeeze out of this RDNA 4m design.
