{"id":65189,"date":"2025-09-15T09:41:09","date_gmt":"2025-09-15T09:41:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/65189\/"},"modified":"2025-09-15T09:41:09","modified_gmt":"2025-09-15T09:41:09","slug":"gardai-investigating-dublin-attack-on-political-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/65189\/","title":{"rendered":"Garda\u00ed investigating Dublin attack on political group"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Garda\u00ed say they are investigating reports of a violent assault in Dublin that took place on Saturday afternoon, as a far-Left militant group said they would use \u201cguns if necessary\u201d to suppress the \u201cfree speech\u201d of \u201cfascists\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Over the weekend, a video was posted to social media purporting to show a group of political activists from the controversial anti-immigration group Clann \u00c9ireann being physically assaulted, including with what appears to be a tire iron. In the background, an \u201cAntifa\u201d-themed song can be heard playing.<\/p>\n<p>The account that posted the video, Anti-Imperialist Ireland (AIA), has taken credit for what they call the \u201cambush\u201d, saying it took place \u201cjust off Clanbrassil St.\u201d near \u201cSt. Patrick\u2019s Park in the Liberties in Dublin\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>One picture shared shows a man huddled on the ground in the foetal position, and another showed the same individual sitting on the ground with blood pouring from his head.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cNAZIS WERE BEATEN OFF THE STREETS\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>AIA is a far-left self-described \u201cmilitant\u201d group with 18,800 followers on social media platform X. The video was shared by other Antifa-affiliated accounts, such as Lasair Dhearg in Ireland (7,028 followers) and an Antifa Ultras (173,300 followers).<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, AIA boasted that the \u201cClann \u00c9ireann neo-nazis\u201d were \u201cbeaten off streets\u201d and \u201cbattered\u201d by Antifa militants and Republicans, and that they had their uniforms stolen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSeveral of the fascists were hospitalised, with all anti-fascists safe and sound,\u201d they wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2026Neo-nazis will never be able to organise openly in Dublin. Today\u2019s direct action shows what is possible when Republicans work together in an organised and disciplined way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>MILITANTS VOW TO USE \u201cGUNS IF NECESSARY\u201d TO SILENCE \u201cFASCISTS\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>They added that such \u2018militant ambushes\u2019 were the most effective way to deal with such situations, and that they would use \u201cguns if necessary\u201d to deprive \u201cfascists\u201d of free-speech.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLearn your lesson. Militant anti-fascism will always win. Stay home,\u201d they wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the words of the great Socialist Republican and Anti-Fascist, Frank Ryan, \u2018While we have fists, hands and boots to use, and guns if necessary, there will be no free speech for traitors!\u2019 No Pas\u00e1ran.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>GARDA\u00cd INVESTIGATING<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Asked about the materials being shared online, a Garda spokesperson confirmed that while they did not comment on \u201cthird party materials\u201d, they were investigating a \u201cpublic order incident\u201d in the area at that time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGarda\u00ed received report of a public order incident involving a group of individuals that occurred yesterday afternoon, Saturday 13th August 2025, in the Dublin 8 area,\u201d the spokesperson told Gript.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUpon arrival of Garda\u00ed at the scene, those involved had dispersed. Investigations into this matter are ongoing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLANN \u00c9IREANN RESPONDS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Clann \u00c9ireann, an offshoot of the National Party led by far-right campaigner Justin Barrett, said members were attacked after an event in Dublin on September 13th.<\/p>\n<p>In a post on social media, Barrett\u2019s wife Rebecca said masked individuals targeted her car, in which she was travelling with their two children, as members left the gathering.<\/p>\n<p>She said two members of the group were seriously injured and taken to hospital, dubbing the attack \u201cterrorism\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Previously in 2022, an Ard Fheis meeting of the National Party at the Lough Erne Hotel in Co.
