{"id":652065,"date":"2026-08-23T10:39:13","date_gmt":"2026-08-23T10:39:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/652065\/"},"modified":"2026-08-23T10:39:13","modified_gmt":"2026-08-23T10:39:13","slug":"mc-cheung-represents-hong-kong-at-tima-aespa-sweeps-six-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/652065\/","title":{"rendered":"MC Cheung represents Hong Kong at TIMA, aespa sweeps six awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hong Kong singer MC Cheung Tin-fu was named \u201cAsian Artist of the Year\u201d at the 2026 TIMA International Music Awards on Saturday (Aug 22), appearing as the sole Hong Kong singer on the first day of the two-day event.<\/p>\n<p>Cheung, who received the \u201cAsian Artist Recommendation of the Year\u201d award, joked after winning that he hoped fans would \u201ckeep recommending me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It marked Cheung\u2019s third time performing at the main stadium, where he performed six songs in front of a packed audience. With the lineup dominated by South Korean acts, Cheung brought Hong Kong music to an international stage.<\/p>\n<p>As one of Hong Kong\u2019s hottest singers, Cheung will take his \u201cE=MC\u00b2 Live 2026\u201d to Malaysia on Nov 21, following five highly acclaimed shows at the Hong Kong Coliseum in July.<\/p>\n<p>The ceremony at Kai Tak Stadium featured performances by some of Asia\u2019s biggest music acts, including aespa, BABYMONSTER and Super Junior.<\/p>\n<p>aespa was among the night\u2019s biggest winners, taking home six awards. The group also performed \u201cLEMONADE,\u201d \u201cSupernova\u201d and \u201cCan&#8217;t help myself,\u201d while BABYMONSTER performed six songs including \u201cSUGAR HONEY ICE TEA\u201d and \u201cMOON.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Super Junior, which received the \u201cMost Influential Overseas Group\u201d award, closed the show. Members Eunhyuk and Siwon greeted the Hong Kong audience in Cantonese, while Siwon said he had missed the city so much that he could not sleep.<\/p>\n<p>Despite a large number of fans leaving before their performance, Super Junior quickly brought the atmosphere to a high with songs including \u201cWonder Boy\u201d and \u201cSorry, Sorry\u201d.
