\n\tAfter nearly three years in Hollywood distro purgatory, the stars of Coyote vs. Acme<\/a> always had faith the movie would see the light of day.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile discussing the Dave Green-helmed Looney Tunes movie, which premieres Aug. 28 in theaters via Ketchup Entertainment<\/a>, Will Forte<\/a> and Lana Condor<\/a> recalled that the first screening was \u201cso good,\u201d they knew it would find a home after Warner Bros-Discovery shelved the release<\/a> in 2023.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe still got to go in a week after that to go see the movie. Personally, I thought, \u2018Oh, it probably sucks. Why would they be doing that?’\u201d Forte recounted to DiscussingFilm<\/a>. \u201cAnd then, we go see this movie, and it\u2019s magic. It\u2019s freakin\u2019 awesome.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tCondor agreed that \u201cbecause it was so good, it made the feeling worse\u201d after the newly merged studio took a $30M tax write-off to not release the movie.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBut weirdly, Will, I gotta say; I was so devastated for the whole thing, but I held onto the funeral screening, where we watched it for the first time,\u201d she added. \u201cBecause I saw that movie, and I was like, \u2018I just refuse to believe that a movie like this will never be seen. I fucking refuse it.\u2019 \u2026 I had hope. Because it\u2019s so good, I was like, \u2018There will be a light.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tForte recalled \u201ca little piece of me\u201d held onto the same hope. \u201cThis is so good. This just can\u2019t be the end of the conversation with this,\u201d he remembered thinking to himself.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn Coyote vs. Acme, Wile E. Coyote sees an ad for attorney Kevin Avery\u2019s (Forte) legal action against the Acme Corporation\u2019s faulty products, deciding to fight back after decades of failed attempts to apprehend his nemesis, Road Runner.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe movie also stars Condor, John Cena, Tone Bell, Martha Kelly, Luis Guzm\u00e1n and countless beloved Looney Tunes characters. Written by Samy Burch from a story by her, James Gunn and Jeremy Slater, producers include Chris DeFaria and Gunn.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn November 2023, Warners shelved the movie, which was based on the 1990 New Yorker article by Ian Frazier, receiving a $30 million tax write-off. The company also shelved Batgirl and Scoob! Holiday Haunt amid the company\u2019s merger.<\/p>\n

\n\tCoyote vs. Acme eventually sold to Ketchup<\/a> last year in a deal said to be in the $50 million range.<\/p>\n
