{"id":65343,"date":"2025-09-15T11:34:08","date_gmt":"2025-09-15T11:34:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/65343\/"},"modified":"2025-09-15T11:34:08","modified_gmt":"2025-09-15T11:34:08","slug":"very-alarming-woman-slapped-in-the-face-for-refusing-to-give-money-on-limerick-street","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/65343\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Very alarming\u2019: Woman slapped in the face for refusing to give money on Limerick street"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A MOTHER of seven has appeared in court accused of slapping another woman in the face after she refused to give her money when approached in the city centre.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ireland-live.ie\/section\/2224\/limerickleader\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Limerick<\/a> District Court has heard the incident happened at O&#8217;\u00a0Connell Street on August 2, 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Outlining the alleged facts, Sergeant Denis Waters said Jessica Moloney &#8220;approached a woman asking her for money and when she declined, she slapped her in the face.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When asked by Judge Patricia Harney, he confirmed the alleged injured party was a &#8220;stranger&#8221; and has no connection to Ms Moloney.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read More: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.limerickleader.ie\/news\/environment\/1890878\/former-limerick-senior-hurling-manager-reported-to-gardai-amid-council-protest.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Former Limerick senior hurling manager reported to gardai amid council protest<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The 33-year-old defendant, who has an address in the Garryowen area, is also charged with assaulting a second woman on that same day and with stealing a slushie worth \u20ac3 from a retail premises in the city &#8211; also on the same day.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Solicitor Sarah Ryan, said Moloney was off her medication at the time of the incident and that she has since \u201cstabilised\u201d and is &#8220;doing very very well at the moment&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The defendant, who has 39 previous convictions, is also before the courts for separate theft matters.<\/p>\n<p>The court heard that she has seven children, addiction issues and a psychiatric disorder.
