Aug 23 (Reuters) – Nvidia<\/a> is in talks to invest in Perplexity as part of an equity \u200cfunding round that would value the AI startup \u200cat more than $30 billion, The Information reported on Sunday, citing people \u200bwith knowledge of the discussion. <\/p>\n

The funding round would increase Perplexity’s valuation by more than 50% from its previous financing a year ago, according to the report. <\/p>\n

Perplexity’s annualized revenue has \u200crisen to more \u2060than $750 million from less than $250 million at the start of the year, the report said. \u2060Part of the revenue growth has been driven by Perplexity Computer, a cloud-based AI agent used by professionals to \u200bautomate \u200bcomputer-based tasks, the report added, \u200bciting people familiar with \u200cthe matter. <\/p>\n

Perplexity declined to comment on the Information report, while Nvidia did not immediately respond to a request for comment. <\/p>\n

The Information reported in September last year that Perplexity had finalized a $20 billion valuation. <\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Perplexity signed \u200ca $750 million agreement with Microsoft<\/a> to \u200buse its Azure cloud service, according \u200bto a Bloomberg \u200bNews report. <\/p>\n

Perplexity is planning to go public \u200cin 2028 regardless of how \u200bthe market receives \u200bthe listings of Anthropic and OpenAI, CEO Aravind Srinivas told CNBC in an interview in June. <\/p>\n

The \u200bstartup’s high-profile backers, \u200calong with Nvidia, include Amazon founder Jeff Bezos<\/a> \u200band Japan’s SoftBank Group. <\/p>\n
