{"id":654408,"date":"2026-08-24T20:16:14","date_gmt":"2026-08-24T20:16:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/654408\/"},"modified":"2026-08-24T20:16:14","modified_gmt":"2026-08-24T20:16:14","slug":"a-sweet-kind-woman-brazilian-woman-murdered-in-limerick-as-suspects-body-is-later-found-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/654408\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018A sweet, kind woman\u2019: Brazilian woman murdered in Limerick as suspect\u2019s body is later found \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/garda-siochana\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/garda-siochana\/\">Garda\u00ed<\/a> are treating the death of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/brazil\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/brazil\/\">Brazilian<\/a> native Jady Cristine Pereira Rosa as a murder-suicide after the chief suspect\u2019s body was later found.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Pereira Rosa\u2019s body was discovered at an apartment on Cecil Street in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/limerick\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/limerick\/\">Limerick<\/a> city at around 7.30am last Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Around 12 hours later, the body of the chief suspect, named locally as Judismar Weslei Batista, also from Brazil, was recovered near Blackrock Castle in  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/cork\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/cork\/\">Cork<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-it-article-body__interstitial-link\">[\u00a0<a aria-label=\"Open related story\" class=\"c-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/crime-law\/2026\/08\/22\/murder-inquiry-following-death-of-brazilian-woman-30s-in-limerick\/\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Murder inquiry following death of Brazilian woman in LimerickOpens in new window<\/a>\u00a0]<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Pereira Rosa (32) and Batista, who was aged in his 30s, were married and were sharing the apartment where the woman was found dead.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">It is understood their relationship had broken down recently.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">According to a friend, Pereira Rosa and Batista met when they were teenagers and were married for more than a decade. They moved to Ireland in 2021 and, while the relationship broke down about three months ago, they continued to live in the apartment together, the friend said.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Judismar Weslei Batista, chief suspect in the murder of Jady Cristine Pereira Rosa, whose body was later found. Photo: Instagram <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">It is understood friends had been waiting for Pereira Rosa  outside the apartment building to go to work together last Friday morning when Batista walked out  and told them she would be down from the apartment shortly. She had been working for a cleaning company in Limerick.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">However, when Pereira Rosa did not appear, her friends raised the alarm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Garda\u00ed and paramedics came to the scene and Pereira Rosa was pronounced dead inside the apartment. It is understood she had suffered stab injuries. However, garda\u00ed said they would not be releasing the results of her postmortem for \u201coperational reasons\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Her brother-in-law Lucas Curdoglo told The Irish Times Pereira Rosa grew up Sorocaba, in the interior of S\u00e3o Paulo, and held a law degree.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cA sweet, kind woman with a huge heart. One of those people who were always willing to help without a second thought. And proof of all this affection are the countless messages of love, support, and solidarity we received, including from people we didn\u2019t know, but who, at some point in their lives, had the privilege of knowing Jady and keeping a piece of her in their hearts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cFrom a very young age, Jady dreamed of living abroad. And she was living that dream, building her story and her plans, until, unfortunately, everything was interrupted in such a tragic and painful way.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Jady Cristine Pereira Rosa\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/1787602574_467_Z27LWNNPSFCS5NTVFBDXWAFVHQ.webp\"   width=\"800\" height=\"450\"\/>Jady Cristine Pereira Rosa <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cEven though she was far away, Jady was never far from her family. She was present in every moment, sharing life, dreams, joys, and also the small events of everyday life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cToday, we feel that we have lost not only Jady. We have lost a part of an entire family, a piece of all of us. Jady will be eternally remembered for her charisma, her kindness, the generous way she cared for people, and especially for her smile and laughter, which could light up any room.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cMay the love of all who had the privilege of knowing her, in some way, keep her memory alive. As long as there is love, she will never be forgotten,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">In a tribute on Instagram, Pereira Rosa\u2019s sister Poliana Gra\u00e7a posted: \u201cI have no words for you, my love. I can\u2019t take this pain away from you, but I want you to know that I\u2019m here. To hug you, to listen to you, and to be by your side through everything. You will never be alone and I won\u2019t leave your side. You are the strongest woman I have ever known.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">On Monday, a vigil held by the feminist organisation Limerick ROSA saw people gathering in solidarity with victims of violence, particularly gender-based violence against women.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A framed photograph of Rosa was placed next to one of Annemarie O\u2019Reilly (30), who was found dead in Australia last Friday, surrounded by candles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cIt is about coming together and grieving this terrible loss,\u201d said organiser Caitriona N\u012b Caithain. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Mark Halvey and Aine Foley, who had both worked with Rosa, attended the vigil. \u201cIt is just heartbreaking, it\u2019s very sad, she was the bubbliest, happiest person you could ever meet,\u201d said Halvey.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Members of the force and the Irish Coast Guard were involved in the recovery of Batista\u2019s body at Blackrock at around 7pm on Friday. The remains were not immediately identified.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">In a statement on Monday, An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na said it is continuing to investigate all the circumstances surrounding the woman\u2019s murder. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cA male (aged in his 30s) who was a person of interest and a line of inquiry in this investigation, has been found deceased,\u201d it stated.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cAn Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na continue to investigate the murder of the woman to determine all of the circumstances of her death. A Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) has been appointed to lead the investigation.
