A new comedy movie helmed by a hilarious comedian is greenlit for production. This movie stars Patrick Schwarzenegger<\/strong>, an MCU<\/strong> star, and more. Now that the movie is greenlit, the director aims to start filming in the fall.<\/p>\n

Old Friends New Friends is approved for production by Focus Features. The movie is a comedy by the American comedian Mike Birbiglia. It will also be his first feature in a decade and is currently eyeing a fall start. Alongside Schwarzenegger, the movie also includes Lucas Hedges, Geraldine Viswanathan, and Dylan Gelula.<\/p>\n

Schwarzenegger was seen in Beach Read and The White Lotus. He will next be seen alongside Margaret Qualley in Love of Your Life. Hedges is best known for Manchester by the Sea and Lady Bird.<\/p>\n

Marvel’s Viswanathan played Mel in Thunderbolts* and is also known for Drive-Away Dolls. Lastly, Gelula has previously starred in Dream Scenario and Smile 2.<\/p>\n

The comedy explores friendship, growing up & drifting apart<\/p>\n

Old Friends New Friends is a comedy movie with heartfelt themes that explore friendships, growing up, and drifting apart.<\/p>\n

The official logline reads, “When a tight-knit group of college friends travels to a summer camp for their old friend’s wedding, they discover he’s built a new life \u2013 with new friends \u2013 forcing them to confront what they’ve lost, who they’ve become, and whether growing up means growing apart.”<\/p>\n

Birbiglia wrote the movie and will also serve as a producer. Other producers include Jacob Jaffke and Joe Hartwick. The comedian had canceled stand-up dates alongside John Mulaney to work on this “dream project.”<\/p>\n

Birbiglia is an Emmy-nominated writer, director, and actor, as well as a comedian. His solo shows run worldwide, including Sleepwalk With Me, My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend, Thank God For Jokes, The New One, The Old Man & The Pool, Don’t Think Twice, and The Good Life, which are Netflix Specials.<\/p>\n

The comedy doesn’t have a release date yet.<\/p>\n
