\n\tDan Stevens<\/a> is set for the title role in the \u201cRobocop<\/a>\u201d TV series at Amazon Prime Video<\/a>, Variety has confirmed. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe show was originally announced in July<\/a> at the streamer. Prime Video has given the show an eight-episode order. The project has been in development since Amazon acquired MGM in 2022, with Amazon looking to capitalize on their access to MGM\u2019s deep IP library for both film and television projects.<\/p>\n

\n\tPer the official logline, \u201cA giant tech conglomerate convinces the city to place a powerful robot on its police force \u2013 a robot implanted with the consciousness of a beloved, fallen officer (Stevens).\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tStevens broke out with his role in the hit British series \u201cDownton Abbey,\u201d with the actor going on to star in the critically-acclaimed show \u201cLegion\u201d at FX. His other TV roles include \u201cSolar Opposites,\u201d \u201cZero Day,\u201d and the upcoming third season of AMC\u2019s \u201cThe Terror.\u201d He is also set for a series regular role<\/a> in the upcoming second season of \u201cDexter: Resurrection.\u201d In film, he recently starred in \u201cGodzilla x Kong: New Empire\u201d and is known for features like the live-action \u201cBeauty and the Beast,\u201d \u201cEurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga,\u201d and \u201cCuckoo.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe is repped by CAA, Julian Belfrage Associates, and Peikoff Mahan.<\/p>\n

\n\tPeter Ocko serves as writer, executive producer, and showrunner. James Wan, Michael Clear, and Rob Hackett executive produce via Blumhouse Atomic Monster. Michael Miner and Ed Neumeier, co-creators and co-writers of the original \u201cRobocop\u201d film, will also serve as executive producers. Danielle Bozzone of Blumhouse Atomic Monster will co-executive produce and oversee the project for the company. Amazon MGM Studios will produce.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe \u201cRobocop\u201d franchise kicked off in 1987 with the first film starring Peter Weller as the titular half man, half machine law enforcement officer. Weller returned for the sequel in 1990, with Robert Burke taking over the role for \u201cRobocop 3\u201d in 1993. Nancy Allen starred in all three films as Officer Anne Lewis. A reboot starring Joel Kinnaman was released in 2014.
