He became their youngest-ever league player in doing so.<\/p>\n<p>A Copa Libertadores goal in May 2022 got supporters excited, yet a month later, he had gone. His destination: French club Troyes.<\/p>\n<p>However, while they were getting relegated to Ligue 2, Savinho was on loan at PSV Eindhoven. Savinho grabbed 19 attacking returns on his way to inclusion in the league\u2019s official Team of the Season. <\/p>\n<p>By finishing third, the Catalan outfit achieved their first-ever European qualification, reaching the top-tier Champions League.<\/p>\n<p>At that point, Savio graduated to Man City, meaning Troyes\u2019 biggest signing and record \u00a330.8m sale never actually played for them.<\/p>\n<p>He was a fairly regular starter in 2024\/25, though league appearances averaged just 61.9 minutes. It peaked in Gameweeks 19 and 20, following 14 points versus Leicester City with three assists against West Ham United. <\/p>\n<p>In fact, the 13-cap Brazilian international then set up a goal in each of his next three matches, ending the FPL season joint-fourth for them overall (11). Impressive, considering his lack of minutes.<\/p>\n<p>What let Savio down was his finishing. Scoring only once, despite 5.01 expected goals (xG, below), made him 2024\/25\u2019s biggest underachiever.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"825\" height=\"345\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-381.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-175163 webpexpress-processed\" style=\"width:581px;height:auto\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Last season, he barely featured, starting merely three league games from Gameweek 10 onwards. <strong>Antoine Semenyo<\/strong>\u2018s (\u00a38.5m) January arrival didn\u2019t exactly help.<\/p>\n<p>REASONS FOR OPTIMISM?<\/p>\n<p>So this move is Savio\u2019s chance to become a key Premier League player, instead of a bit-part one.<\/p>\n<p>He feels wanted at Spurs, who\u2019ve chased him for a while but failed to complete a deal last summer. In the last campaign, Spurs ranked joint-third for set-piece goals (19), so usual taker <strong>Pedro Porro<\/strong> (\u00a35.5m) could benefit massively. Down the right, these two could cause damage to opponents.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cSavio is a player who brings energy, imagination and quality in wide positions. He has the courage to attack defenders and the ability to change a game with his creativity.\u201d \u2013 Roberto De Zerbi<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk\/2024\/07\/24\/fpl-new-signings-what-will-savinho-bring-to-man-city\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">In our 2024 \u2018new signing\u2019 article<\/a>, we pointed out that a favoured trick of Savio\u2019s is to completely slow down, bring the full-back to a standstill, before bursting past him with his rapid pace and inevitably creating a chance.<\/p>\n<p>WHERE SAVIO FITS IN AT SPURS<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"132\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/2026-03-31T155347Z_1400408708_RC29Z6AYXV1L_RTRMADP_3_SOCCER-ENGLAND-TOT-DEZERBI-1-300x132.jpg\" alt=\"Spurs appoint De Zerbi as new head coach 1\" class=\"wp-image-163329 webpexpress-processed\" style=\"object-fit:cover;width:450px;height:225px\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Although his brilliant Girona season came from the left wing, Savio prefers being on the right.<\/p>\n<p>Decimated by injuries over the last year or so, Spurs had to put <strong>Mikey Moore<\/strong> (\u00a35.0m) out there at Brentford. The teenager earned his place by netting twice in the Hoffenheim friendly, but Savio will likely go straight into the Spurs XI.<\/p>\n<p>Once <strong>Mohammed Kudus<\/strong> (\u00a36.5m) is ready to start \u2013 he\u2019s close \u2013 there\u2019ll be some competition for that spot, especially with no European football workload to split. But the Ghanaian has been injured since January, so he shouldn\u2019t be a short-term worry.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u00a0\u201cIn terms of one-to-one, he\u2019s one of the best players. He can play in the right side, in the left side. I know him from a long time, in Brighton, I spoke with him before he went to City. He\u2019s a big player for us, a big signing.\u201d \u2013 Roberto De Zerbi<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>SHOULD SAVIO BE AN FPL TARGET?<\/p>\n<p>Two Premier League goals in two years isn\u2019t great, and we\u2019ve already mentioned his poor finishing data.
