Rumer Willis, the eldest daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, is sharing a rare update on her dad amid his frontotemporal dementia diagnosis.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat\u2019s been interesting having a family member with dementia, it\u2019s like, he\u2019s happy. As well as someone could be doing, given the circumstances, he\u2019s doing well,\u201d Willis, 38, told People <\/a>in an interview published Tuesday. \u201cWhen I get to see him, he sees me and [daughter] Louetta and he starts smiling.\u2019 <\/p>\n She added, \u201cSo, there\u2019s so much love and joy and tenderness that still exists there. And in terms of that, I would say that\u2019s a huge win. And the fact that we still have him, you know?\u201d <\/p>\n Noting that her dad\u2019s battle with dementia is a \u201cmystery,\u201d she told the outlet that there are still many things that she\u2019s grateful for. <\/p>\n \u201cThe most important thing for me is that I\u2019m so grateful that I have this time with him for however many years it may be,\u201d Willis explained. \u201cI\u2019m grateful that he seems generally wonderful and, given all of the givens of our situation, that our family is just so loving and together.\u201d<\/p>\n Bruce Willis, 71, developed frontotemporal dementia<\/a>, a progressive brain disorder, after first being diagnosed with aphasia<\/a> in 2022. The \u201cDie Hard\u201d star retired from acting in March 2022. <\/p>\n Rumer Willis last shared an update <\/a>about her dad in November during an Instagram Q&A session<\/a>.<\/p>\n After a fan asked how he was doing, she replied, \u201cPeople always ask me this question. And I think it\u2019s kind of a hard one to answer, because the truth is that anybody with FTD is not doing great. But he\u2019s doing OK in terms of somebody who\u2019s dealing with frontotemporal dementia, you know what I mean?\u201d<\/p>\n Bruce Willis married Moore<\/a> in 1987. The couple, who later finalized their divorce in 2000, welcomed Rumer and her sisters, Scout and Tallulah, during their marriage.
