{"id":657638,"date":"2026-08-26T15:31:49","date_gmt":"2026-08-26T15:31:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/657638\/"},"modified":"2026-08-26T15:31:49","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T15:31:49","slug":"a-dark-new-drama-from-the-creator-of-love-hate-is-the-standout-show-from-rtes-upcoming-schedule","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/657638\/","title":{"rendered":"A dark new drama from the creator of Love\/Hate is the standout show from RT\u00c9&#8217;s upcoming schedule"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE CREATOR OF the beloved gritty crime drama Love\/Hate is bringing another show to RT\u00c9, this one billed as a \u201cdarkly comedic drama\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Titled Tall Tales &amp; Murder, screenwriter Stuart Carolan\u2019s latest venture is a six-part series based on the\u00a0nine-book <a href=\"https:\/\/whitehairedirishman.com\/the-dublin-trilogy\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dublin Trilogy<\/a> by Caimh McDonnell.<\/p>\n<p>It will star Aidan Gillen (Love\/Hate, Peaky Blinders), Ella Lily Hyland (Fifteen-Love), Casey Walsh, and Phillippa Dunne (Motherland, Derry Girls).<\/p>\n<p>Packy Lee (Peaky Blinders), Brian Doherty and Aisling O\u2019Sullivan (Raw) also star.<\/p>\n<p>Promotional material promises the show will mix a \u201cBonnie and Clyde-style adventure of bent cops, kidnapping, underworld fixers, libido-enhancing horse medication bootleggers, and the dilemmas of unconventional heroes and villains with an 8th Century tall tale of monks, Vikings, buried treasure, and a priceless holy book\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Its release date has yet to be confirmed, although it is among a host of titles RT\u00c9 promises is \u201ccoming soon\u201d as it released a list of its new series, acquisitions, and even a new app: RT\u00c9 Listen, which will offer users the \u201cbest live and on-demand listening experience\u201d across stations and new podcasts.\u00a0\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>What else is coming soon?<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/1787758308_353_.jpeg\"  alt=\"unnamed (6)\" class=\"alignnone inline-image\" \/><br \/>\n                                RT\u00c9<\/p>\n<p>    RT\u00c9\n<\/p>\n<p>You can probably guess a large portion of the names adorning RT\u00c9\u2019s much-hyped autumn schedule: Garron Noone has to be in there somewhere (this autumn he\u2019ll be swanning around the US), Miriam O\u2019Callaghan has questions to ask in a two-part series.<\/p>\n<p>D\u00e1ith\u00ed \u00d3 S\u00e9 will take the European gap year he never had. Donnacha O\u2019Callaghan will bring a different celebrity to a different country each week. D\u00f3nal Skehan will travel Italy \u201cchasing the places, people, and dishes that have shaped his cooking\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>But among the predictability, there are some welcome additions and reboots.<\/p>\n<p>RT\u00c9\u2019s spread of drama offerings is its biggest ever: 160 hours of Irish drama is either in production or scheduled to air throughout the year.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A third series of <strong>KIN<\/strong> scheduled to come out in 2027.<\/li>\n<li>\n<strong>Fair City<\/strong> will \u201cset the tone for high-stakes drama\u201d this September, RT\u00c9 promises, while a new series of Marian Keyes\u2019s <strong>The Walsh Sisters<\/strong> is in production.<\/li>\n<li>There is a brand-new series <strong>The Galway Bay Murders<\/strong> set in the west coast of Ireland, following seasoned NYPD detective Nora Savage, who is taking a career break but is unexpectedly pulled into a murder investigation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Entertainment<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/1787758309_298_.jpeg\"  alt=\"unnamed (7)\" class=\"alignnone inline-image\" \/><br \/>\n            Katie Taylor&#8217;s historic Croke Park fight will also be broadcast by RT\u00c9.\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The star of the entertainment catalogue is of course series two of the well-received <strong>The Traitor\u2019s Ireland<\/strong>, which will premiere on RT\u00c9 One and the player on Sunday 30 August.<\/li>\n<li>\n<strong>The Late Late Show<\/strong> is back on 18 September, with host Patrick Kielty ready for the hot seat.<\/li>\n<li>\n<strong>Dancing with the Stars<\/strong> is back in January, as is <strong>The Tommy Tiernan Show<\/strong>, <strong>The 2 Johnnies\u2019 Late Night Lock-In<\/strong>, and <strong>First Dates<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Comedy<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<strong>Hardy Bucks<\/strong> is coming back to Irish screens with a new series after the show wrapped in 2018.
