Oppo calls it the “new-generation eye-care display,” and it is likely to debut on the Find X10 series that will be announced in the fall.

Record wide color gamut coverage

The other record-busting innovation in Oppo’s new “eye-care” display is its color gamut representation abilities, building on the 144 Hz 2K ProXDR panel of the flagship Find X9 Ultra that is now available on Amazon.

The Find X10 phones will be able to show 95% of the BT.2020 color space, a gamut far wider than the DCI-P3 standard that most flagship phones are still bragging about. The BT.2020 gamut was designed for next-gen broadcast and HDR mastering, so hitting 95% on a phone panel is a meaningful jump in color volume shown and would allow for more accurate gradients when showing HDR content.

This panel is made possible thanks to Oppo supplier Tianma’s new N1 primary color spectrum emissive material that reshapes the actual light curve each subpixel produces, as can be seen in the comparison pictures below. The hardware solution is paired with a homebrew De-Mura AI algorithm that combats uniformity issues, both firsts for Tianma.

All of this is tipped to land in the Find X10 series, rumored for a September launch after the iPhone 18 event is done and dusted on September 9. The first phones in the series are expected to land with a 2 nm Dimensity 9600 Pro chip and a 200 MP main sensor, and we can’t wait to put the BT.2020 color and eye-care claims through our Notebookcheck display testing routine.

Daniel Zlatev – Senior Tech Writer – 2199 articles published on Notebookcheck since 2021

Wooed by tech since the industrial espionage of Apple computers and the times of pixelized Nintendos, Daniel went and opened a gaming club when personal computers and consoles were still an expensive rarity.
