Data show that nearly one in three (32.7%) internet users in the <a class=\"ecl-link\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/statistics-explained\/index.php?title=Glossary:European_Union_(EU)\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">EU<\/a> in 2025 had a paid subscription to a film, series, or sports streaming service, the largest share among the 4 subscription types.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ecl-u-type-paragraph\">Paying for a music streaming service was also popular, with 23.0% of internet users being paid subscribers. By comparison, only 7.2% had paid subscriptions for online news sites, newspapers, or magazines, and 6.1% subscribed to a gaming streaming service.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center\"><a class=\"ecl-link\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/documents\/d\/products-eurostat-news\/paid-online-subscriptions-2025\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"paid online subscriptions in the EU, 2025 (% of internet users in the last 3 months). They were followed by the Netherlands, with 59.2%.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ecl-u-type-paragraph\">Conversely, only 9.3% of internet users in Bulgaria pay for this type of subscriptions.
