{"id":659567,"date":"2026-08-27T16:57:14","date_gmt":"2026-08-27T16:57:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/659567\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T16:57:14","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T16:57:14","slug":"driver-error-suspected-in-incident-that-saw-car-crash-off-m50-bridge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/659567\/","title":{"rendered":"Driver error suspected in incident that saw car crash off M50 bridge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GARDA\u00cd BELIEVE THAT a crash on the M50 in which a motorist drove their car through a barrier of a bridge and onto the road below was a case of driver error.<\/p>\n<p>Emergency services went to the scene at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thejournal.ie\/m50-crash-7-7143208-Aug2026\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Junction 10 near Ballymount, Dublin,<\/a> on the busy city artery on Wednesday afternoon at around 3.30pm.<\/p>\n<p>It is understood the leading theory for investigators is that the driver of the car became confused at a junction and inadvertently drove the car at speed, into a barrier and off the side of the bridge.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The car, as it travelled through the air, avoided other vehicles that were travelling on the busy carriageways of the motorway as it hit the earthen banks and crash barrier below.
