{"id":661375,"date":"2026-08-28T18:14:14","date_gmt":"2026-08-28T18:14:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/661375\/"},"modified":"2026-08-28T18:14:14","modified_gmt":"2026-08-28T18:14:14","slug":"gardai-have-taken-over-400-statements-in-investigation-into-homicide-of-daniel-aruebose","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/661375\/","title":{"rendered":"Garda\u00ed have taken over 400 statements in investigation into homicide of Daniel Aruebose"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"article-updated-redesign article-updated-redesign-\" title=\"Friday 28 Aug 2026, 5:35 PM\">\n<p>                            LAST UPDATE<br \/>\n                            |<br \/>\n                            1 hr ago\n                        <\/p>\n<p>OVER 400 STATEMENTS have been taken by garda\u00ed over the past year in relation to the murder of young child Daniel Aruebose.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Garda\u00ed have released new information about how the investigation has progressed as this weekend marks one year since <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thejournal.ie\/missing-child-donabate-remains-found-6819270-Sep2025\/?jrnl_lg=1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tusla raised concerns about Daniel on\u00a029 August 2025<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel was last seen alive at his home in the Gallery Apartments in Donabate at the age of three.<\/p>\n<p>To date, two people have been arrested and detained in connection with the investigation and later released without charge.<\/p>\n<p>Garda\u00ed recovered the human remains of a child on open ground in Donabate, Co Dublin on 17 September last year, and confirmed through DNA analysis that the remains were those of Daniel Aruebose.<\/p>\n<p>A post-mortem examination was completed at Dublin City Mortuary, the results of which have not been released for operational reasons.<\/p>\n<p>A homicide investigation was opened on 11 December last year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Over the past year, 800 jobs have been conducted by garda\u00ed, with the investigation team retaining over 100 physical exhibits and nearly 300 documentary exhibits.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Last December, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thejournal.ie\/daniel-aruebose-woman-arrested-6910708-Dec2025\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a woman in her 20s was arrested on suspicion of murder<\/a>, but was subsequently released without charge.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Later in the month, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thejournal.ie\/arrest-brazil-daniel-aruebose-donabate-6912485-Dec2025\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">police in Brazil arrested an Irish man<\/a>\u00a0in connection with Daniel\u2019s death. In February this year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thejournal.ie\/daniel-aruebose-man-arrested-6911171-Feb2026\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a man in his 20s was arrested by garda\u00ed<\/a>. It is understood the arrest was made off a flight at Dublin Airport.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation into the young boy\u2019s disappearance and homicide has involved garda\u00ed collaborating with police forces in multiple other jurisdictions.<\/p>\n<p>The garda statement said that \u201cDaniel was a happy, vibrant young boy\u201d, and that the force is \u201cdetermined to vindicate Daniel\u2019s human rights and remember him and his short life\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation team has engaged with law enforcement authorities in the United States, Brazil, France and the United Kingdom, alongside the Australian Federal Police, the Portuguese Judicial Police, Interpol and the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCoordination has also been maintained with the Police Service of Northern Ireland, the Director of Public Prosecutions and the central channels for Mutual Legal Assistance to gather critical evidence and facilitate international legal requests,\u201d the garda statement said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Garda\u00ed are appealing to anyone who has any information in relation to the disappearance and homicide of Daniel Aruebose to contact the investigation team at Swords Garda Station on 01 666 4700, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any member of An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na.<\/p>\n<p>Garda\u00ed are also appealing to anyone who was resident in The Gallery Apartments complex in Donabate between July 2019 to the present date to speak with the investigation team.<\/p>\n<p>They are also appealing to the public to share any piece of information, even if it appears insignificant, with garda\u00ed. Garda\u00ed will determine the significance of the information.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Garda\u00ed have also urged the public to verify any speculation, rumours or theories before sharing it.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Garda\u00ed said that any contact will be welcomed by the investigation team and treated in the strictest confidence.\n<\/p>\n<p>Lovingly remembered<\/p>\n<p>Last September, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thejournal.ie\/donabate-daniel-aruebose-6819390-Sep2025\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Journal spoke to the former foster sister of Daniel<\/a>, who said that she saw him \u201cas a brother\u201d and that he \u201cbecame a part of the family quickly\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The family had already fostered multiple children when Daniel was placed in their care, from birth, in December 2017.<\/p>\n<p>She said that her family were devastated by the news that skeletal remains were found in Donabate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was the sweetest little baby ever, we were all absolutely beside ourselves [when we got him]. He was so cute,\u201d she told The Journal.<\/p>\n<p>She said that the last time she saw Daniel was in the summer of 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel had been moved from the care of the foster family to his birth mother.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was with us for just under a year,\u201d his foster sister said. \u201cWe got him the first day he was born and we had to give him back the day before his first birthday, when he went back to live with his biological family.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen he would come for a few days a week not long after that, he\u2019d go back and forth, for about six months.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Remembering Danny, his foster sister said: \u201cHe was so clever. I obviously might be a little biased, but he already had a strong personality, he loved dancing, he loved laughing, and he loved showing off that he understood you.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019d go \u2018where\u2019s the light?\u2019 and he\u2019d know from only a few months old, he\u2019d point up at the light.
