Matt Reeves<\/strong> recently shared an update about The Penguin Season 2<\/strong>, exciting DC fans. The Penguin, a spin-off to 2022\u2019s The Batman<\/strong>, premiered on HBO on September 19, 2024. Speculations about a potential sophomore season have been around since the finale of the first season, which aired on November 10, 2024.<\/p>\n

Matt Reeves says The Penguin Season 2 is being discussed<\/p>\n

Matt Reeves spoke about The Penguin Season 2 to Variety<\/a> at the red carpet for Emmys 2025. Responding to a question on when the next chapter of the Colin Farrell-led show is coming out, the filmmaker revealed, \u201cWe\u2019ll see. We\u2019re just in the beginning of thinking about it. But obviously, we\u2019re super excited about what we\u2019re able to do, and if we can do more, if it can be as good or better than the last season, which is I think a tall order given the incredible work we already did. We definitely would love to.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked what the plans were to top the first season of the series, Reeves revealed that there were discussions about it with Lauren Lefranc, the showrunner of The Penguin. \u201cWe\u2019re in discussions. Lauren is thinking hard and we\u2019re talking, so we\u2019ll see.\u201d <\/p>\n

Reflecting on the Emmy nominations that The Penguin garnered this year, Reeves said, \u201cIt\u2019s an incredible honor. We are incredibly excited.\u201d He noted that it would have been \u201cinsane\u201d to predict the nominations. Reeves then lauded the cast and the crew for the first season. \u201cOur passion was in it, but never in our wildest dreams could we imagine it would have been received in the way that it was,\u201d he added<\/p>\n

The Penguin has since won several Emmys, including the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Cristin Milioti\u2019s performance as Sofia Gigante (n\u00e9e Falcone).<\/p>\n
