The team was made aware early last Wednesday when the sculptures were checked each morning.<\/p>\n
CCTV footage revealed what happened. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s very upsetting and of course it\u2019s very upsetting to the artist who\u2019s put all this work in.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe would just be so happy and relieved to have it back and have it back undamaged.\u201d<\/p>\n

De Beer said she was \u201cvery disappointed\u201d and wanted to see the piece returned.<\/p>\n
It was the newest addition to the art centre\u2019s outdoor sculpture exhibition on July 1.<\/p>\n
Day said the pieces are contracted to be in place for a year. <\/p>\n
The idea was to display art outside a gallery setting for the community to see sculptures outdoors.<\/p>\n
She said the art centre and artists placed trust in the community that work wouldn\u2019t be damaged or stolen. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe really hope it\u2019s not going to put other artists off,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a piece loved by everybody.\u201d<\/p>\n
Day encouraged anyone with information to contact the centre or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.<\/p>\n
Police have been approached for comment.<\/p>\n
