{"id":665060,"date":"2026-08-31T11:11:14","date_gmt":"2026-08-31T11:11:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/665060\/"},"modified":"2026-08-31T11:11:14","modified_gmt":"2026-08-31T11:11:14","slug":"state-backed-investment-account-offers-tax-free-threshold-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/665060\/","title":{"rendered":"State-backed investment account offers tax-free threshold"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>No deemed disposal, a tax-free threshold, and no minimum contribution will be among the key features of the Government&#8217;s new personal-investment account scheme.<\/p>\n<p>It is also understood savers will be able to invest in shares, bonds, and ETFs &#8211; however &#8211; investing in risky products such as crypto assets and derivatives will not be allowed.<\/p>\n<p>T\u00e1naiste and Minister for Finance Simon Harris is due to announce a roadmap for the new State-backed accounts tomorrow, which are expected to be up and running early next year.<\/p>\n<p>The roadmap, seen by RT\u00c9 News, reveals that a significant benefit will be that deemed disposal tax will not apply to any funds held in investment accounts.<\/p>\n<p>Under deemed disposal, every eight years certain investments are treated as if they have been sold for tax purposes &#8211; even if there has been no sale.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, any gains on such investments are taxed at 38%.
