Tehran<\/a> still seeks a negotiated \u200csolution to its conflict \u200bwith the United States<\/a>, Iranian president Masoud \u200bPezeshkian said on Monday, \u2060according to semi-official Tasnim \u200cnews \u200cagency, \u200bfollowing renewed clashes<\/a> between the \u2060two \u200bcountries.<\/p>\n

Pezeshkian told \u200bIndian prime \u200cminister Narendra Modi \u200bon the sidelines of \u2060the \u2060Shanghai Cooperation \u200bOrganisation summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, that continued war was in no \u200cone\u2019s interest and \u2060that dialogue and co-operation were \u200cthe way to resolve existing \u200bproblems.<\/p>\n

Iran\u2019s <\/a>army said it attacked \u200bthe United Arab Emirates\u2019 <\/a>Al Minhad Air Base with drones early \u200bon Monday, Iranian state TV reported.<\/p>\n

The \u200cIranian army \u200bsaid the attack targeted US<\/a> forces \u2060and \u200bhelicopters stationed at the base.<\/p>\n

It followed US military attacks on Iran for the first time in a month, firing missiles and drones at Iranian rocket launchers on an island in the strait of Hormuz. <\/p>\n

US Central Command said it acted late on Sunday after it detected the Iranians planning to fire fresh mines into the strait. <\/p>\n

Last week Donald Trump claimed the US navy had cleared the strait of mines for the first time since the conflict started on February 28th, a claim the Iranians rejected as lies.<\/p>\n

Iran\u2019s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps also launched a missile-and-drone attack on US airbases in Jordan <\/a>early Monday, state-run IRNA reported. <\/p>\n

Jordan\u2019s military said it intercepted eight missiles after they breached the kingdom\u2019s airspace, destroying them before they caused any damage.<\/p>\n

Iran\u2019s foreign ministry said \u200cthe \u200bUS bases in Jordan \u2060had \u200bbeen used to launch \u200band support an earlier \u200cattack on Larak \u200bIsland that killed and \u2060wounded members of \u2060Iran\u2019s \u200barmed forces and civilians.<\/p>\n

It said Iran would respond decisively to further military aggression and \u200cthat the \u2060US and parties supporting its actions bore \u200cfull responsibility for any \u200bescalation. <\/p>\n

On Sunday night, US president Donald Trump <\/a>claimed in a social media post accompanied by an AI-generated video clip that Iran\u2019s energy hub of Kharg Island is being \u201cblown to smithereens\u201d.<\/p>\n

There was no other evidence that the Iranian energy hub was under attack. <\/p>\n

\u201cKharg Island being blown to smithereens! President DJT,\u201d Trump said on social media, but gave no further details.<\/p>\n

Using software that detects AI-manipulated imagery, Reuters confirmed that an accompanying video clip showing dramatic explosions was most likely synthetically-generated. <\/p>\n

Attacking Kharg, which handled 90 per cent of Iran\u2019s oil exports before the war launched by US and Israeli attacks on February 28th, would severely disrupt its \u200benergy trade and put huge pressure on its economy.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a supertanker \u200ccaught fire and was brought \u200cto a complete halt after being \u200bstruck by two naval mines in the southern Strait \u200bof Hormuz, Iran state TV \u2060reported on Monday, citing a \u200cstatement \u200cby \u200bthe Revolutionary Guards.<\/p>\n

The guards said \u2060the \u200btanker had been \u200battempting to pass through \u200cthe waterway illegally. \u200bIt did not identify \u2060the vessel or \u2060provide \u200binformation about its crew.<\/p>\n
