Jamie Foxx is reflecting on surviving a life-threatening brain bleed that led to a stroke in April 2023, suggesting he had some questions for God at the time.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was talking to him,\u201d said the Oscar winner, 58, gesturing toward the sky on a recent episode of \u201cBaby, This Is Keke Palmer<\/a>.\u201d \u201cThis is me, bro. I put the smiles on people\u2019s faces. Why me? Look at all these bad people out here.\u201d<\/p>\n

Foxx said that after his medical emergency, when he asked his loved ones what had happened to him, he was astonished to find out he had suffered a stroke. <\/p>\n

\u201c[I said,] \u2018What are you talking about?\u2019 I couldn\u2019t make sense of it,\u2019\u201d he shared during the Aug. 25 podcast episode. The actor called rehab \u201cfrustrating,\u201d saying people told him, \u201cYou got a second chance.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cI said, \u2018Fuck the second chance! What was wrong with my first chance?\u2019\u201d Foxx recalled. \u201cThis doesn\u2019t happen to anybody. How does it happen to me?\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cDjango Unchained\u201d star then cracked that his health care team couldn\u2019t do wellness checks on him because he was constantly telling jokes, noting that he \u201conly had comedy to lean on\u201d during the challenging time. <\/p>\n

\u201cSo, I was just funny. I was always joking all the time. So, when they [would] come and say, \u2018Who are you today, sir?\u2019 I was somebody different [everyday]. \u2018Who are you today?\u2019\u201d Foxx recalled before doing an impression of fellow comedian Dave Chappelle. <\/p>\n

The actor\u2019s daughter, Corinne Foxx, also appeared in the interview and told Palmer that her dad had imitated Denzel Washington when he was first admitted to the hospital. <\/p>\n

\u201cNot because he didn\u2019t know who he was, but because he was making a joke,\u201d she clarified before her dad interjected to say that his impersonations were \u201cthe only way I could find myself.\u201d <\/p>\n

Foxx also revealed that one nurse told him that his survival was a miracle. <\/p>\n

\u201cI said, \u2018What you mean?\u2019 She said, \u2018Less than 3% of people that come in with what you have walk out of here. We usually put them in a box.\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n

In April 2023, Foxx was hospitalized after he suffered what was then vaguely described as a \u201cmedical complication<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Foxx told a group of people<\/a> in downtown Phoenix in summer 2024 that his health issues began with a \u201cbad headache.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLook, April 11 last year, bad headache, asked my boy for an Advil. I was gone for 20 days,\u201d he said in a clip<\/a> shared on X. \u201cI don\u2019t remember anything. I\u2019m in Atlanta, they told me \u2026 my sister and my daughter took me to the first doctor. They gave me a cortisone shot.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe next doctor said, \u2018There\u2019s something going on up there,\u2019\u201d the actor added while pointing to his head.<\/p>\n
