Only \u201cExtra\u201d\u00a0was inside the Jackson family home to talk with Prince Jackson on what would have been his father Michael Jackson\u2019s\u00a068th-birthday weekend.<\/p>\n

He welcomed us, saying, \u201cSo, we are here at my family’s historic compound in Encino, California, at the beautiful Hayvenhurst.\u201d<\/p>\n

Historic is right! It\u2019s\u00a0the place where many members of the Jackson family grew up, including Prince, who was just 12 years old when his dad died.<\/p>\n

Now, at 29, he\u2019s\u00a0protecting his father\u2019s\u00a0legacy.\u00a0He was one of the executive producers of the smash-hit billion-dollar biopic \u201cMichael,\u201d\u00a0which included scenes filmed at Hayvenhurst.<\/p>\n

Prince said of making the movie, \u201cIt\u00a0was a daunting experience… It was a big responsibility to tell a story about someone who means so much to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

It also gave him an opportunity to see a new side of his dad.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u00a0learned more about my dad than I thought I would during those meetings,\u201d\u00a0Prince said. \u201cI just sat in as like a fly on the wall and I heard funny interactions that, \u2018Really\u00a0he was doing that?\u2019\u2026 It was so cool to see everybody had this love respect and admiration for him.\u201d<\/p>\n

You can add Prince\u2019s cousin Jaafar Jackson to that list. He took on the monumental task of stepping into Michael\u2019s moonwalking shoes.<\/p>\n

Prince explained, \u201cTo\u00a0see him dressed in costumes as my father was scary at first. It was a shock to digest.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cI\u00a0never got to see my dad on tour. We recreated the stages to scale and had concerts for two weeks straight. Crowd was in there going crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prince also talked about the dichotomy\u00a0of seeing Jaafar as his dad and also as his cousin.<\/p>\n

\u201cJaafar\u00a0had to do the same song over and over and over and never missed a beat\u2026 Afterwards, I go to his trailer. We\u2019re hanging out. He\u2019s still my cousin… It\u2019s a crazy life. It\u2019s a crazy world, and it\u2019s important to stay true to your authenticity. And he\u2019s done just that,\u201d\u00a0he said.<\/p>\n

Over the weekend, Prince also opened up the gates of the family\u2019s\u00a0Hayvenhurst home for guests to witness where parts of the historic movie were filmed.<\/p>\n

It was all for a good cause as Prince\u2019s\u00a0Heal Los Angeles Foundation\u2019s \u201cKing of Popcorn\u201d\u00a0event raised money to combat youth hunger, homelessness, and educational disparities.<\/p>\n

Prince said he wanted people to \u201csee\u00a0the magic that is here\u201d and be at the property where scenes were \u201cbased on moments that happened here at the property.\u201d<\/p>\n

He\u2019s also reportedly developing a sequel to \u201cMichael,\u201d\u00a0but has yet to confirm a release date.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u00a0is certainly so much more of his history and his story that deserve to be told,\u201d\u00a0he said. \u201cI\u00a0think that the film was so incredible in the way in which it brought his story to audiences that if we decide and when we decide to do a second film, it needs to be done \u2014 and I have confidence that it will be done \u2014 with that same degree of care and respect for it, and I\u2019m looking forward to it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prince also praised his sister Paris Jackson, who just dropped new music.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m so proud of my sister,\u201d he said. \u201cI think that she wears her heart on her sleeve and she is always authentic and\u2026 the rollout for her album, the quality of the production of the songs. I think it has been just incredible to see her grow into this place as an artist\u2026 She\u2019s a beautiful woman inside and out and people should see that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prince described his brother Bigi as a \u201cmega movie buff\u201d while revealing the go-to movie series that Prince and Paris Love.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a special connection on this. It\u2019s got to be \u2018Lord of the Rings.\u2019 Peter Jackson. Like, that trilogy, the extended director\u2019s cut. I haven\u2019t watched it this year, but me and her are hopefully going to get together to watch it. I love that movie. We used to watch it as a kids growing up with my dad and we used to study it as a piece of art, but just the music, the score, the story. I love dragons and I love stuff like that.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
